A Song of degrees. 1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

2 Deliver my soul, Oh LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

2 Deliver my soul, Oh Lord, from unjust lips, and from a deceitful tongue. 2 Deliver my soul, Oh Lord, from unjust lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

3 What shall be given unto you? or what shall be done unto you, you false tongue?

3 τί δοθείη σοί καὶ τί προστεθείη σοί πρὸς γλῶσσαν δολίαν; 3 τί δοθείη σοι καὶ τί προστεθείη σοι πρὸς γλῶσσαν δολίαν;
3 What should be given to you, and what should be added to you, for your crafty tongue? 3 What should be given to you, and what should be added to you, for your crafty tongue?

4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

5 Woe is me, that I stay in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

5 Woe is me, that my staying is prolonged; I have tabernacled among the tents of Kedar. 5 Woe is me, that my staying is prolonged; I have tabernacled among the tents of Kedar.

6 My soul has long dwelt with him who hates peace.

6 My soul has long been a resident; 6 My soul has long been a resident;

7 I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

7 I was peaceable among those who hated peace; when I spoke to them, they warred against me without a cause. 7 I was peaceable among those who hated peace; when I spoke to them, they warred against me without a cause.
