Judgment on Moab

1 The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;

מַשָּׂ֖א מֹואָ֑ב כִּ֠י בְּלֵ֞יל שֻׁדַּ֨ד עָ֤ר מֹואָב֙ נִדְמָ֔ה כִּ֗י בְּלֵ֛יל שֻׁדַּ֥ד קִיר־מֹואָ֖ב נִדְמָֽה׃

1 τὸ ῥῆμα τὸ κατὰ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος.

2 He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.

עָלָ֨ה הַבַּ֧יִת וְדִיבֹ֛ן הַבָּמֹ֖ות לְבֶ֑כִי עַל־נְבֹ֞ו וְעַ֤ל מֵֽידְבָא֙ מֹואָ֣ב יְיֵלִ֔יל בְּכָל־רֹאשָׁ֣יו קָרְחָ֔ה כָּל־זָקָ֖ן גְּרוּעָֽה׃

2 λυπεῖσθε ἐφ’ ἑαυτοῖς, ἀπολεῖται γὰρ καὶ Δηβών· οὗ ὁ βωμὸς ὑμῶν, ἐκεῖ ἀναβήσεσθε κλαίειν· ἐπὶ Ναβαὺ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος ὀλολύζετε ἐπὶ πάσης κεφαλῆς φαλάκρωμα, πάντες βραχίονες κατατετμημένοι· 2 λυπεῖσθε ἐφ’ ἑαυτοῖς, ἀπολεῖται γὰρ καὶ Δηβών, οὗ ὁ βωμὸς ὑμῶν, ἐκεῖ ἀναβήσεσθε κλαίειν· ἐπὶ Ναβαῦ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος ὀλολύζετε ἐπὶ πάσης κεφαλῆς φαλάκρωμα, πάντες βραχίονες κατατετμημένοι·

3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, everyone shall howl, weeping abundantly.

3 ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις αὐτῆς περιζώσασθε σάκκους καὶ κόπτεσθε, ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων αὐτῆς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις αὐτῆς πάντες ὀλολύζετε μετὰ κλαυθμοῦ. 3 ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις αὐτῆς περιζώσασθε σάκκους καὶ κόπτεσθε, ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων αὐτῆς καὶ ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις αὐτῆς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμας αὐτῆς πάντες ὀλολύζετε μετὰ κλαυθμοῦ.

6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass fails, there is no green thing.

7 Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and what they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows.

9 τὸ δὲ ὕδωρ τὸ Ῥεμμὼν πλησθήσεται αἵματος· ἐπάξω γὰρ ἐπὶ Ῥεμμὼν Ἄραβας καὶ ἀρῶ τὸ σπέρμα Μωὰβ καὶ Ἀριὴλ καὶ τὸ κατάλοιπον Ἀδαμά. 9 τὸ δὲ ὕδωρ τὸ Ῥεμμὼν πλησθήσεται αἵματος· ἐπάξω γὰρ ἐπὶ Ῥεμμὼν Ἄραβας καὶ ἀρῶ τὸ σπέρμα Μωὰβ καὶ Ἀριὴλ καὶ τὸ κατάλοιπον Ἀδαμά.
