The Tablets Rewritten

1 At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew you two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make you an ark of wood.

1 At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out for yourself two tablets of stone like the former ones, and come up to me on the mountain, and you will make for yourself an ark of wood. 1 At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out for yourself two tablets of stone like the former ones, and come up to me on the mountain, and you will make for yourself an ark of wood.

2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.

2 And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you smashed, and you shall put them in the ark.” 2 And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you smashed, and you shall put them in the ark.”

3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand.

3 And I made an ark of non-rotting boards and carved the two tablets of stone like the former ones and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hands. 3 And I made an ark of non-rotting boards and carved the two tablets of stone like the former ones and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.

4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spoke unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.

4 And he wrote on the tablets, in accord with the first writing, the ten words that the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire, and the Lord gave them to me. 4 And he wrote on the tablets, in accord with the first writing, the ten words that the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire, and the Lord gave them to me.

5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

5 And after turning, I came down out of the mountain and put the tablets in the ark that I had made, and they were there, as the Lord commanded me. 5 And after turning, I came down out of the mountain and put the tablets in the ark that I had made, and they were there, as the Lord commanded me.

6 And the children of Israēl took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest’s office in his stead.

6 (And the sons of Israēl departed from Berōth of the sons of Jakim Misadai. There Aarōn died, and there he was buried, and his son Eleazar became priest instead of him. 6 (And the sons of Israēl departed from Berōth of the sons of Jakim Misadai. There Aarōn died, and there he was buried, and his son Eleazar became priest instead of him.

7 From from there they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.

7 From there they departed to Gadgad and from Gadgad to Etebatha, a land with a stream of waters. 7 From there they departed to Gadgad and from Gadgad to Etebatha, a land with a stream of waters.

8 At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

9 Therefore Levi has no part nor inheritance with his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD your God promised him.

9 Therefore, for the Levites there is not a portion or allotment among their brothers; the Lord himself is his allotment, as he said to him.) 9 Therefore, for the Levites there is not a portion or allotment among their brothers; the Lord himself is his allotment, as he said to him.)

10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, 40 days and 40 nights; and the LORD listened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy you.

11 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take your journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give unto them.

12 And now, Israēl, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command you this day for your good?

13 φυλάσσεσθαι τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτοῦ, ὅσα ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοί σήμερον, ἵνα εὖ σοί ; 13 φυλάσσεσθαι τάς ἐντολὰς Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ σου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτοῦ, ὅσα ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοι σήμερον, ἵνα εὖ σοι ;
13 to keep the commandments of your Lord God and his statutes that I command you today in order that it may be well with you? 13 to keep the commandments of your Lord God and his statutes that I command you today in order that it may be well with you?

14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’s your God, the earth also, with all that in it is.

14 Look! the sky and the sky of the sky belong to your Lord God, the land and all that is in it. 14 Look! the sky and the sky of the sky belong to your Lord God, the land and all that is in it.

15 Only the LORD had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

15 However, your fathers, the Lord chose to love them, and he selected you, their offspring after them, you, among all the nations, as it is this day. 15 However, your fathers, the Lord chose to love them, and he selected you, their offspring after them, you, among all the nations, as it is this day.

16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.

16 And you shall circumcise your hardheartedness and shall not harden your neck any longer. 16 And you shall circumcise your hardheartedness and shall not harden your neck any longer.

17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which doesn’t regard persons, nor takes reward:

17 For your Lord God, this one is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, strong and fearsome, who does not marvel at a person, neither will he take a bribe, 17 For your Lord God, this one is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, strong and fearsome, who does not marvel at a person, neither will he take a bribe,

18 He does execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger, in giving him food and clothing.

19 Love therefore the stranger: for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

19 You shall also love the immigrant, for you were immigrants in the land of Aigypt. 19 You shall also love the immigrant, for you were immigrants in the land of Aigypt.

20 You shall fear the LORD your God; him shall you serve, and to him shall you cling, and swear by his name.

21 He is your praise, and he is your God, that has done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.

21 This one is your boast, and this one is your God, who did among you these great and glorious things that your eyes have seen. 21 This one is your boast, and this one is your God, who did among you these great and glorious things that your eyes have seen.

22 Your fathers went down into Egypt with 70 persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of heaven for multitude.
