Chapter 1

NASTextRec
Paul, called as an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their [Lord] and ours: To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of the Lord, our Jesus Christ, both theirs and ours:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge, That in every thing you are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, So that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. God is faithful, by whom you were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Now I exhort you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. Now I beseech you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
For I have been informed concerning you, my brothers, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you. For it has been declared unto me of you, my brothers, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and “I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ.” Now this I say, that every one of you says, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
1:13 μεμέρισται Χριστός;
μὴ Παῦλος ἐσταυρώθη ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν, εἰς τὸ ὄνομα Παύλου ἐβαπτίσθητε;
13 μεμέρισται Χριστός;
μὴ Παῦλος ἐσταυρώθη ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν, εἰς τὸ ὄνομα Παύλου ἐβαπτίσθητε;
Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
so that no one would say you were baptized in my name. Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
Now I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t know whether I baptized any other. And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.” For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1:20  ποῦ σοφός;
ποῦ γραμματεύς;
ποῦ συζητητὴς τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου;
οὐχὶ ἐμώρανεν θεὸς τὴν σοφίαν τοῦ κόσμου;
20 ποῦ σοφός;
ποῦ γραμματεύς;
ποῦ συζητητὴς τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου;
οὐχὶ ἐμώρανεν θεὸς τὴν σοφίαν τοῦ κόσμου τούτου;
Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom didn’t come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For consider your calling, brothers, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; For you see your calling, brothers, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that he may nullify the things that are, And base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
so that no man may boast before God. That no flesh should glory in his presence.
But by his doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” That, according as it is written, he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
