Young Joash Influenced by Jehoiada
1 Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned 40 years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.

4 And it came to be after this, that Joash was minded to repair the house of the LORD.

5 And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israēl money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that you hurry the matter. However the Levites hurried it not.

6 And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why you haven’t required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israēl, for the tabernacle of witness?

8 And at the king’s commandment they made a chest, and set it without at the gate of the house of the LORD.

10 And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end.

וַיִּתְּנֵ֨הוּ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ וִֽיהֹויָדָ֗ע אֶל־עֹושֵׂה֙ מְלֶ֙אכֶת֙ עֲבֹודַ֣ת בֵּית־יְהוָ֔ה וַיִּֽהְי֤וּ שֹׂכְרִים֙ חֹצְבִ֣ים וְחָרָשִׁ֔ים לְחַדֵּ֖שׁ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וְ֠גַם לְחָרָשֵׁ֤י בַרְזֶל֙ וּנְחֹ֔שֶׁת לְחַזֵּ֖ק אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

| 13 καὶ ἐποίουν οἱ ποιοῦντες τὰ ἔργα, καὶ ἀνέβη μῆκος τῶν ἔργων ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἀνέστησαν τὸν οἶκον κυρίου ἐπὶ τὴν στάσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνίσχυσαν. | 13 καὶ ἐποίουν οἱ ποιοῦντες τὰ ἔργα, καὶ ἀνέβη μῆκος τῶν ἔργων ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν καὶ ἀνέστησαν τὸν οἶκον Κυρίου ἐπὶ τὴν στάσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνίσχυσαν. |

וּֽכְכַלֹּותָ֡ם הֵבִ֣יאוּ לִפְנֵי֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ וִֽיהֹויָדָ֜ע אֶת־שְׁאָ֣ר הַכֶּ֗סֶף וַיַּעֲשֵׂ֨הוּ כֵלִ֤ים לְבֵית־יְהוָה֙ כְּלֵ֣י שָׁרֵ֔ת וְהַעֲלֹ֣ות וְכַפֹּ֔ות וּכְלֵ֥י זָהָ֖ב וָכָ֑סֶף וַ֠יִּֽהְיוּ מַעֲלִ֨ים עֹלֹ֤ות בְּבֵית־יְהוָה֙ תָּמִ֔יד כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י יְהֹויָדָֽע׃

14 καὶ ὡς συνετέλεσαν, ἤνεγκαν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ πρὸς Ἰωδαὲ τὸ κατάλοιπον τοῦ ἀργυρίου, καὶ ἐποίησαν σκεύη εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου, σκεύη λειτουργικὰ ὁλοκαυτωμάτων καὶ θυΐσκας χρυσᾶς καὶ ἀργυρᾶς· καὶ ἀνήνεγκαν ὁλοκαυτώσεις ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου διαπαντὸς πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας Ἰωδαέ. |

20 And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus says God, Why transgress you the commandments of the LORD, that you cannot prosper? because you have forsaken the LORD, he has also forsaken you.
