Chapter 5

NASTextRec
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children;
and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Therefore don’t be partakers with them; Be not you therefore partakers with them.
for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
(for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
Don’t participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever does make manifest is light.
For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” Wherefore he says, Awake you that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
making the most of your time, because the days are evil. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
So then don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Wherefore be you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
And don’t get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, he himself being the Saviour of the body. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for her, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
so that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
that he might present to himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. he who loves his own wife loves himself; So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. he that loveth his wife loveth himself.
for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
because we are members of his body. For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
