Slaughter of Midian
1 And the LORD spoke unto Mōysēs, saying,
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

נְקֹ֗ם נִקְמַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מֵאֵ֖ת הַמִּדְיָנִ֑ים אַחַ֖ר תֵּאָסֵ֥ף אֶל־עַמֶּֽיךָ׃

3 And Mōysēs spoke unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.
וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־הָעָ֣ם לֵאמֹ֔ר הֵחָלְצ֧וּ מֵאִתְּכֶ֛ם אֲנָשִׁ֖ים לַצָּבָ֑א וְיִהְיוּ֙ עַל־מִדְיָ֔ן לָתֵ֥ת נִקְמַת־יְהוָ֖ה בְּמִדְיָֽן׃
| 3 καὶ ἐλάλησεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς τὸν λαὸν λέγων Ἐξοπλίσατε ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνδρας παρατάξασθαι ἔναντι κυρίου ἐπὶ Μαδιὰν ἀποδοῦναι ἐκδίκησιν παρὰ τοῦ κυρίου τῇ Μαδιάν· | 3 καὶ ἐλάλησε Μωυσῆς πρὸς τὸν λαὸν λέγων· ἐξοπλίσατε ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνδρας καὶ παρατάξασθε ἔναντι Κυρίου ἐπὶ Μαδιὰν ἀποδοῦναι ἐκδίκησιν παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου τῇ Μαδιάν· |

אֶ֚לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֔ה אֶ֖לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֑ה לְכֹל֙ מַטֹּ֣ות יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל תִּשְׁלְח֖וּ לַצָּבָֽא׃

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח אֹתָ֥ם מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶ֥לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֖ה לַצָּבָ֑א אֹ֠תָם וְאֶת־פִּ֨ינְחָ֜ס בֶּן־אֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ לַצָּבָ֔א וּכְלֵ֥י הַקֹּ֛דֶשׁ וַחֲצֹצְרֹ֥ות הַתְּרוּעָ֖ה בְּיָדֹֽו׃

וַֽיִּצְבְּאוּ֙ עַל־מִדְיָ֔ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ כָּל־זָכָֽר׃

וַיִּשְׁבּ֧וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶת־נְשֵׁ֥י מִדְיָ֖ן וְאֶת־טַפָּ֑ם וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־בְּהֶמְתָּ֧ם וְאֶת־כָּל־מִקְנֵהֶ֛ם וְאֶת־כָּל־חֵילָ֖ם בָּזָֽזוּ׃
| 9 καὶ ἐπρονόμευσαν τὰς γυναῖκας Μαδιὰν καὶ τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτῶν, καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔγκτητα αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτῶν ἐπρονόμευσαν· | 9 καὶ ἐπρονόμευσαν τὰς γυναῖκας Μαδιὰν καὶ τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτῶν, καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔγκτητα αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτῶν ἐπρονόμευσαν· |

וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ מֹשֶׁ֨ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן וְכָל־נְשִׂיאֵ֥י הָעֵדָ֖ה לִקְרָאתָ֑ם אֶל־מִח֖וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃
| 13 καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἐλεάζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς. | 13 Καὶ ἐξῆλθε Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἐλεάζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς. |

וַיִּקְצֹ֣ף מֹשֶׁ֔ה עַ֖ל פְּקוּדֵ֣י הֶחָ֑יִל שָׂרֵ֤י הָאֲלָפִים֙ וְשָׂרֵ֣י הַמֵּאֹ֔ות הַבָּאִ֖ים מִצְּבָ֥א הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
| 14 καὶ ὠργίσθη Μωυσῆς ἐπὶ τοῖς ἐπισκόποις τῆς δυνάμεως, χιλιάρχοις καὶ ἑκατοντάρχοις τοῖς ἐρχομένοις ἐκ τῆς παρατάξεως τοῦ πολέμου, | 14 καὶ ὠργίσθη Μωυσῆς ἐπὶ τοῖς ἐπισκόποις τῆς δυνάμεως, χιλιάρχοις καὶ ἑκατοντάρχοις τοῖς ἐρχομένοις ἐκ τῆς παρατάξεως τοῦ πολέμου, |

15 And Mōysēs said unto them, Have you saved all the women alive?
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מֹשֶׁ֑ה הַֽחִיִּיתֶ֖ם כָּל־נְקֵבָֽה׃

הֵ֣ן הֵ֜נָּה הָי֨וּ לִבְנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בִּדְבַ֣ר בִּלְעָ֔ם לִמְסָר־מַ֥עַל בַּיהוָ֖ה עַל־דְּבַר־פְּעֹ֑ור וַתְּהִ֥י הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה בַּעֲדַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃
| 16 αὗται γὰρ ἦσαν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα Βαλαὰμ τοῦ ἀποστῆσαι καὶ ὑπεριδεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου ἕνεκεν Φογώρ, καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ πληγὴ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ κυρίου. | 16 αὗται γὰρ ἦσαν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα Βαλαὰμ τοῦ ἀποστῆσαι καὶ ὑπεριδεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα Κυρίου ἕνεκεν Φογώρ, καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ πληγὴ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ Κυρίου. |

וְעַתָּ֕ה הִרְג֥וּ כָל־זָכָ֖ר בַּטָּ֑ף וְכָל־אִשָּׁ֗ה יֹדַ֥עַת אִ֛ישׁ לְמִשְׁכַּ֥ב זָכָ֖ר הֲרֹֽגוּ׃
| 17 καὶ νῦν ἀποκτείνατε πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ ἀπαρτίᾳ, καὶ πᾶσαν γυναῖκα, ἥτις ἔγνωκεν κοίτην ἄρσενος, ἀποκτείνατε· | 17 καὶ νῦν ἀποκτείνατε πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ ἀπαρτίᾳ, πᾶσαν γυναῖκα, ἥτις ἔγνω κοίτην ἄρσενος, ἀποκτείνατε· |

18 But all the women children, who haven’t known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

| 18 πᾶσαν τὴν ἀπαρτίαν τῶν γυναικῶν, ἥτις οὐκ οἶδεν κοίτην ἄρσενος, ζωγρήσατε αὐτάς. | 18 καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀπαρτίαν τῶν γυναικῶν, ἥτις οὐκ οἶδε κοίτην ἄρσενος, ζωγρήσατε αὐτάς. |

וְאַתֶּ֗ם חֲנ֛וּ מִח֥וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים כֹּל֩ הֹרֵ֨ג נֶ֜פֶשׁ וְכֹ֣ל ׀ נֹגֵ֣עַ בֶּֽחָלָ֗ל תִּֽתְחַטְּא֞וּ בַּיֹּ֤ום הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ וּבַיֹּ֣ום הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י אַתֶּ֖ם וּשְׁבִיכֶֽם׃

25 And the LORD spoke unto Mōysēs, saying,

| 26 Λαβὲ τὸ κεφάλαιον τῶν σκύλων τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπου ἕως κτήνους, σὺ καὶ Ἐλεάζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τῆς συναγωγῆς, | 26 λάβε τὸ κεφάλαιον τῶν σκύλων τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπου ἕως κτήνους, σὺ καὶ Ἐλεάζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τῆς συναγωγῆς, |

27 And divide the prey into two parts; between those who took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the congregation:

28 And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of 500, both of the persons, and of the bovine cattle, and of the donkeys, and of the sheep:

| 28 καὶ ἀφελεῖτε τέλος κυρίῳ παρὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν ἐκπεπορευμένων εἰς τὴν παράταξιν μίαν ψυχὴν ἀπὸ πεντακοσίων ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν αἰγῶν· | 28 καὶ ἀφελεῖτε τέλος Κυρίῳ παρὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν ἐκπεπορευμένων εἰς τὴν παράταξιν μίαν ψυχὴν ἀπὸ πεντακοσίων, ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὄνων· |

29 Take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for a heave offering of the LORD.
מִמַּֽחֲצִיתָ֖ם תִּקָּ֑חוּ וְנָתַתָּ֛ה לְאֶלְעָזָ֥ר הַכֹּהֵ֖ן תְּרוּמַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

| 32 καὶ ἐγενήθη τὸ πλεόνασμα τῆς προνομῆς, ὃ ἐπρονόμευσαν οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ πολεμισταί, ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων ἑξακόσιαι χιλιάδες καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ πέντε χιλιάδες | 32 καὶ ἐγενήθη τὸ πλεόνασμα τῆς προνομῆς, ὃν προενόμευσαν οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ πολεμισταὶ ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων, ἑξακόσιαι χιλιάδες καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ πέντε χιλιάδες |

וַיִּקַּ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֜ה מִמַּחֲצִ֣ת בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶת־הָֽאָחֻז֙ אֶחָ֣ד מִן־הַחֲמִשִּׁ֔ים מִן־הָאָדָ֖ם וּמִן־הַבְּהֵמָ֑ה וַיִּתֵּ֨ן אֹתָ֜ם לַלְוִיִּ֗ם שֹֽׁמְרֵי֙ מִשְׁמֶ֙רֶת֙ מִשְׁכַּ֣ן יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

וַֽיִּקְרְבוּ֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה הַפְּקֻדִ֕ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לְאַלְפֵ֣י הַצָּבָ֑א שָׂרֵ֥י הָאֲלָפִ֖ים וְשָׂרֵ֥י הַמֵּאֹֽות׃

| 49 καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Μωυσῆν οἱ παῖδές σου εἰλήφασιν τὸ κεφάλαιον τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν παρ’ ἡμῶν καὶ οὐ διαπεφώνηκεν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν οὐδὲ εἷς· | 49 οἱ παῖδές σου εἰλήφασι τὸ κεφάλαιον τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν παρ’ ἡμῖν, καὶ οὐ διαπεφώνηκεν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν οὐδὲ εἷς· |

וַנַּקְרֵ֞ב אֶת־קָרְבַּ֣ן יְהוָ֗ה אִישׁ֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר מָצָ֤א כְלִֽי־זָהָב֙ אֶצְעָדָ֣ה וְצָמִ֔יד טַבַּ֖עַת עָגִ֣יל וְכוּמָ֑ז לְכַפֵּ֥ר עַל־נַפְשֹׁתֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
| 50 καὶ προσενηνόχαμεν τὸ δῶρον κυρίῳ, ἀνὴρ ὃ εὗρεν σκεῦος χρυσοῦν, χλιδῶνα καὶ ψέλιον καὶ δακτύλιον καὶ περιδέξιον καὶ ἐμπλόκιον, ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ἡμῶν ἔναντι κυρίου. | 50 καὶ προσενηνόχαμεν τὸ δῶρον Κυρίῳ, ἀνὴρ ὃν εὗρε σκεῦος χρυσοῦν καὶ χλιδῶνα καὶ ψέλλιον καὶ δακτύλιον καὶ περιδέξιον καὶ ἐμπλόκιον, ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ἡμῶν ἔναντι Κυρίου. |

וַיִּקַּ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן אֶת־הַזָּהָ֖ב מֵֽאִתָּ֑ם כֹּ֖ל כְּלִ֥י מַעֲשֶֽׂה׃
