Job: I am righteous
1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
וַיֹּ֣סֶף אִ֭יֹּוב שְׂאֵ֥ת מְשָׁלֹ֗ו וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

2 As God lives, who has taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who has vexed my soul;
חַי־אֵ֭ל הֵסִ֣יר מִשְׁפָּטִ֑י וְ֝שַׁדַּ֗י הֵמַ֥ר נַפְשִֽׁי׃
| 2 ζῇ κύριος, ὃς οὕτω με κέκρικεν, καὶ ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὁ πικράνας μου τὴν ψυχήν, | 2 ζῇ ὁ Θεός, ὃς οὕτω με κέκρικε, καὶ ὁ Παντοκράτωρ ὁ πικράνας μου τὴν ψυχήν. |

3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
כִּֽי־כָל־עֹ֣וד נִשְׁמָתִ֣י בִ֑י וְר֖וּחַ אֱלֹ֣והַּ בְּאַפִּֽי׃

4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
אִם־תְּדַבֵּ֣רְנָה שְׂפָתַ֣י עַוְלָ֑ה וּ֝לְשֹׁונִ֗י אִם־יֶהְגֶּ֥ה רְמִיָּֽה׃

5 God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I won’t remove my integrity from me.
חָלִ֣ילָה לִּי֮ אִם־אַצְדִּ֪יק אֶ֫תְכֶ֥ם עַד־אֶגְוָ֑ע לֹא־אָסִ֖יר תֻּמָּתִ֣י מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

בְּצִדְקָתִ֣י הֶ֭חֱזַקְתִּי וְלֹ֣א אַרְפֶּ֑הָ לֹֽא־יֶחֱרַ֥ף לְ֝בָבִ֗י מִיָּמָֽי׃

Job: The Godless Have No Hope
7 Let my enemy be as the wicked, and he who rises up against me as the unrighteous.
יְהִ֣י כְ֭רָשָׁע אֹ֣יְבִ֑י וּמִתְקֹומְמִ֥י כְעַוָּֽל׃
| 7 οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ εἴησαν οἱ ἐχθροί μου ὥσπερ ἡ καταστροφὴ τῶν ἀσεβῶν, καὶ οἱ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἐπανιστανόμενοι ὥσπερ ἡ ἀπώλεια τῶν παρανόμων. | 7 οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ εἴησαν οἱ ἔχθροί μου ὥσπερ ἡ καταστροφὴ τῶν ἀσεβῶν, καὶ οἱ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἐπανιστάμενοι, ὥσπερ ἡ ἀπώλεια τῶν παρανόμων. |

8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God takes away his soul?
כִּ֤י מַה־תִּקְוַ֣ת חָ֭נֵף כִּ֣י יִבְצָ֑ע כִּ֤י יֵ֖שֶׁל אֱלֹ֣והַּ נַפְשֹֽׁו׃

9 Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him?
הַֽ֭צַעֲקָתֹו יִשְׁמַ֥ע ׀ אֵ֑ל כִּֽי־תָבֹ֖וא עָלָ֣יו צָרָֽה׃

אִם־עַל־שַׁדַּ֥י יִתְעַנָּ֑ג יִקְרָ֖א אֱלֹ֣והַּ בְּכָל־עֵֽת׃
| 10 μὴ ἔχει τινὰ παρρησίαν ἔναντι αὐτοῦ, ἢ ὡς ἐπικαλεσαμένου αὐτοῦ εἰσακούσεται αὐτοῦ, | 10

11 I will teach you by the hand of God: what is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
אֹורֶ֣ה אֶתְכֶ֣ם בְּיַד־אֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עִם־שַׁ֝דַּ֗י לֹ֣א אֲכַחֵֽד׃

12 Behold, all you yourselves have seen it; why then are you thus altogether vain?
הֵן־אַתֶּ֣ם כֻּלְּכֶ֣ם חֲזִיתֶ֑ם וְלָמָּה־זֶּ֝֗ה הֶ֣בֶל תֶּהְבָּֽלוּ׃

13 This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
זֶ֤ה ׀ חֵֽלֶק־אָדָ֖ם רָשָׁ֥ע ׀ עִם־אֵ֑ל וְֽנַחֲלַ֥ת עָ֝רִיצִ֗ים מִשַּׁדַּ֥י יִקָּֽחוּ׃
| 13 αὕτη ἡ μερὶς ἀνθρώπου ἀσεβοῦς παρὰ κυρίου, κτῆμα δὲ δυναστῶν ἐλεύσεται παρὰ παντοκράτορος ἐπ’ αὐτούς. | 13 αὕτη ἡ μερὶς ἀνθρώπου ἀσεβοῦς παρὰ Κυρίου, κτῆμα δὲ δυναστῶν ἐλεύσεται παρὰ Παντοκράτορος ἐπ’ αὐτούς. |

14 If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.

15 Those who remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
בַּמָּ֣וֶת יִקָּבֵ֑רוּ וְ֝אַלְמְנֹתָ֗יו לֹ֣א תִבְכֶּֽינָה׃

16 Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay;
אִם־יִצְבֹּ֣ר כֶּעָפָ֣ר כָּ֑סֶף וְ֝כַחֹ֗מֶר יָכִ֥ין מַלְבּֽוּשׁ׃
| 16 ἐὰν συναγάγῃ ὥσπερ γῆν ἀργύριον, ἴσα δὲ πηλῷ ἑτοιμάσῃ χρυσίον, | 16 ἐὰν συναγάγῃ ὥσπερ γῆν ἀργύριον, ἴσα δὲ πηλῷ ἑτοιμάσῃ χρυσίον, |

17 He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
יָ֭כִין וְצַדִּ֣יק יִלְבָּ֑שׁ וְ֝כֶ֗סֶף נָקִ֥י יַחֲלֹֽק׃

18 He builds his house as a moth, and as a tent that the keeper makes.
בָּנָ֣ה כָעָ֣שׁ בֵּיתֹ֑ו וּ֝כְסֻכָּ֗ה עָשָׂ֥ה נֹצֵֽר׃

19 The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he opens his eyes, and he is not.
עָשִׁ֣יר יִ֭שְׁכַּב וְלֹ֣א יֵאָסֵ֑ף עֵינָ֖יו פָּקַ֣ח וְאֵינֶֽנּוּ׃

20 Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest steals him away in the night.
תַּשִּׂיגֵ֣הוּ כַ֭מַּיִם בַּלָּהֹ֑ות לַ֝֗יְלָה גְּנָבַ֥תּוּ סוּפָֽה׃

יִשָּׂאֵ֣הוּ קָדִ֣ים וְיֵלַ֑ךְ וִֽ֝ישָׂעֲרֵ֗הוּ מִמְּקֹמֹֽו׃

22 For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
וְיַשְׁלֵ֣ךְ עָ֭לָיו וְלֹ֣א יַחְמֹ֑ל מִ֝יָּדֹ֗ו בָּרֹ֥וחַ יִבְרָֽח׃
