Death of Miriam
1 Then came the children of Israēl, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ בְנֵֽי־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל כָּל־הָ֨עֵדָ֤ה מִדְבַּר־צִן֙ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽרִאשֹׁ֔ון וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב הָעָ֖ם בְּקָדֵ֑שׁ וַתָּ֤מָת שָׁם֙ מִרְיָ֔ם וַתִּקָּבֵ֖ר שָֽׁם׃

וַיָּ֥רֶב הָעָ֖ם עִם־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לֵאמֹ֔ר וְל֥וּ גָוַ֛עְנוּ בִּגְוַ֥ע אַחֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

וְלָמָ֤ה הֲבֵאתֶם֙ אֶת־קְהַ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה לָמ֣וּת שָׁ֔ם אֲנַ֖חְנוּ וּבְעִירֵֽנוּ׃

וְלָמָ֤ה הֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֙נוּ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לְהָבִ֣יא אֹתָ֔נוּ אֶל־הַמָּקֹ֥ום הָרָ֖ע הַזֶּ֑ה לֹ֣א ׀ מְקֹ֣ום זֶ֗רַע וּתְאֵנָ֤ה וְגֶ֙פֶן֙ וְרִמֹּ֔ון וּמַ֥יִם אַ֖יִן לִשְׁתֹּֽות׃

6 And Mōysēs and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
וַיָּבֹא֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה וְאַהֲרֹ֜ן מִפְּנֵ֣י הַקָּהָ֗ל אֶל־פֶּ֙תַח֙ אֹ֣הֶל מֹועֵ֔ד וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ עַל־פְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֵּרָ֥א כְבֹוד־יְהוָ֖ה אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

8 Take the rod, and gather the assembly together, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and you shall bring forth to them water out of the rock: so you shall give the congregation and their beasts drink.
קַ֣ח אֶת־הַמַּטֶּ֗ה וְהַקְהֵ֤ל אֶת־הָעֵדָה֙ אַתָּה֙ וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֔יךָ וְדִבַּרְתֶּ֧ם אֶל־הַסֶּ֛לַע לְעֵינֵיהֶ֖ם וְנָתַ֣ן מֵימָ֑יו וְהֹוצֵאתָ֙ לָהֶ֥ם מַ֙יִם֙ מִן־הַסֶּ֔לַע וְהִשְׁקִיתָ֥ אֶת־הָעֵדָ֖ה וְאֶת־בְּעִירָֽם׃
| 8 Λαβὲ τὴν ῥάβδον καὶ ἐκκλησίασον τὴν συναγωγὴν σὺ καὶ Ἀαρὼν ὁ ἀδελφός σου καὶ λαλήσατε πρὸς τὴν πέτραν ἔναντι αὐτῶν, καὶ δώσει τὰ ὕδατα αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐξοίσετε αὐτοῖς ὕδωρ ἐκ τῆς πέτρας καὶ ποτιεῖτε τὴν συναγωγὴν καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν. | 8 λάβε τὴν ῥάβδον σου καὶ ἐκκλησίασον τὴν συναγωγὴν σὺ καὶ Ἀαρὼν ὁ ἀδελφός σου καὶ λαλήσατε πρὸς τὴν πέτραν ἐναντίον αὐτῶν, καὶ δώσει τὰ ὕδατα αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐξοίσετε αὐτοῖς ὕδωρ ἐκ τῆς πέτρας, καὶ ποτιεῖτε τὴν συναγωγὴν καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν. |

10 And Mōysēs and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, you rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
וַיַּקְהִ֜לוּ מֹשֶׁ֧ה וְאַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת־הַקָּהָ֖ל אֶל־פְּנֵ֣י הַסָּ֑לַע וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֗ם שִׁמְעוּ־נָא֙ הַמֹּרִ֔ים הֲמִן־הַסֶּ֣לַע הַזֶּ֔ה נֹוצִ֥יא לָכֶ֖ם מָֽיִם׃
| 10 καὶ ἐξεκκλησίασεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν τὴν συναγωγὴν ἀπέναντι τῆς πέτρας καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς Ἀκούσατέ μου, οἱ ἀπειθεῖς· μὴ ἐκ τῆς πέτρας ταύτης ἐξάξομεν ὑμῖν ὕδωρ; | 10 καὶ ἐξεκλησίασε Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν τὴν συναγωγὴν ἀπέναντι τῆς πέτρας καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτούς· ἀκούσατέ μου, οἱ ἀπειθεῖς· μὴ ἐκ τῆς πέτρας ταύτης ἐξάξομεν ὑμῖν ὕδωρ; |

וַיָּ֨רֶם מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת־יָדֹ֗ו וַיַּ֧ךְ אֶת־הַסֶּ֛לַע בְּמַטֵּ֖הוּ פַּעֲמָ֑יִם וַיֵּצְאוּ֙ מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֔ים וַתֵּ֥שְׁתְּ הָעֵדָ֖ה וּבְעִירָֽם׃
| 11 καὶ ἐπάρας Μωυσῆς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπάταξεν τὴν πέτραν τῇ ῥάβδῳ δίς, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὕδωρ πολύ, καὶ ἔπιεν ἡ συναγωγὴ καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν. | 11 καὶ ἐπάρας Μωυσῆς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπάταξε τὴν πέτραν τῇ ῥάβδῳ δίς, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὕδωρ πολύ, καὶ ἔπιεν ἡ συναγωγὴ καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν. |

12 And the LORD spoke unto Mōysēs and Aaron, Because you didn’t believe me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israēl, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָה֮ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹן֒ יַ֚עַן לֹא־הֶאֱמַנְתֶּ֣ם בִּ֔י לְהַ֨קְדִּישֵׁ֔נִי לְעֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָכֵ֗ן לֹ֤א תָבִ֙יאוּ֙ אֶת־הַקָּהָ֣ל הַזֶּ֔ה אֶל־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥תִּי לָהֶֽם׃
| 12 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ Ἀαρὼν Ὅτι οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε ἁγιάσαι με ἐναντίον υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ εἰσάξετε ὑμεῖς τὴν συναγωγὴν ταύτην εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν δέδωκα αὐτοῖς. | 12 καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ Ἀαρών· ὅτι οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε ἁγιάσαι με ἐναντίον τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ εἰσάξετε ὑμεῖς τὴν συναγωγὴν ταύτην εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν δέδωκα αὐτοῖς. |

הֵ֚מָּה מֵ֣י מְרִיבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־רָב֥וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּקָּדֵ֖שׁ בָּֽם׃

14 And Mōysēs sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus says your brother Israēl, You know all the travail that has befallen us:
וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֧ה מַלְאָכִ֛ים מִקָּדֵ֖שׁ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ אֱדֹ֑ום כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אָחִ֣יךָ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֔עְתָּ אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַתְּלָאָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר מְצָאָֽתְנוּ׃
| 14 Καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Μωυσῆς ἀγγέλους ἐκ Κάδης πρὸς βασιλέα Ἐδὼμ λέγων Τάδε λέγει ὁ ἀδελφός σου Ἰσραὴλ σὺ ἐπίστῃ πάντα τὸν μόχθον τὸν εὑρόντα ἡμᾶς, | 14 Καὶ ἀπέστειλε Μωυσῆς ἀγγέλους ἐκ Κάδης πρὸς βασιλέα Ἐδὼμ λέγων· τάδε λέγει ὁ ἀδελφός σου Ἰσραήλ· σὺ ἐπίστῃ πάντα τὸν μόχθον τὸν εὑρόντα ἡμᾶς, |

| 15 καὶ κατέβησαν οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν εἰς Αἴγυπτον, καὶ παρῳκήσαμεν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ἡμέρας πλείους, καὶ ἐκάκωσαν ἡμᾶς οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι καὶ τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν, | 15 καὶ κατέβησαν οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν εἰς Αἴγυπτον, καὶ παρῳκήσαμεν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ἡμέρας πλείους, καὶ ἐκάκωσαν ἡμᾶς οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι καὶ τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν, |

וַנִּצְעַ֤ק אֶל־יְהוָה֙ וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע קֹלֵ֔נוּ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח מַלְאָ֔ךְ וַיֹּצִאֵ֖נוּ מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וְהִנֵּה֙ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ בְקָדֵ֔שׁ עִ֖יר קְצֵ֥ה גְבוּלֶֽךָ׃
| 16 καὶ ἀνεβοήσαμεν πρὸς κύριον, καὶ εἰσήκουσεν κύριος τῆς φωνῆς ἡμῶν καὶ ἀποστείλας ἄγγελον ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, καὶ νῦν ἐσμεν ἐν Κάδης, πόλει ἐκ μέρους τῶν ὁρίων σου· | 16 καὶ ἀνεβοήσαμεν πρὸς Κύριον, καὶ εἰσήκουσε Κύριος τῆς φωνῆς ἡμῶν καὶ ἀποστείλας ἄγγελον ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, καὶ νῦν ἔσμεν ἐν Κάδης πόλει, ἐκ μέρους τῶν ὁρίων σου· |

17 Let us pass, I pray you, through your country: we won’t pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s highway, we won’t turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your borders.

18 And Edom said unto him, You shall not pass by me, lest I come out against you with the sword.
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ אֱדֹ֔ום לֹ֥א תַעֲבֹ֖ר בִּ֑י פֶּן־בַּחֶ֖רֶב אֵצֵ֥א לִקְרָאתֶֽךָ׃

וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֵלָ֥יו בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ בַּֽמְסִלָּ֣ה נַעֲלֶה֒ וְאִם־מֵימֶ֤יךָ נִשְׁתֶּה֙ אֲנִ֣י וּמִקְנַ֔י וְנָתַתִּ֖י מִכְרָ֑ם רַ֥ק אֵין־דָּבָ֖ר בְּרַגְלַ֥י אֶֽעֱבֹֽרָה׃

22 And the children of Israēl, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor.
וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִקָּדֵ֑שׁ וַיָּבֹ֧אוּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל כָּל־הָעֵדָ֖ה הֹ֥ר הָהָֽר׃

Death of Aaron
23 And the LORD spoke unto Mōysēs and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying,
וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן בְּהֹ֣ר הָהָ֑ר עַל־גְּב֥וּל אֶֽרֶץ־אֱדֹ֖ום לֵאמֹֽר׃

| 24 Προστεθήτω Ἀαρὼν πρὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν δέδωκα τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ, διότι παρωξύνατέ με ἐπὶ τοῦ ὕδατος τῆς λοιδορίας. | 24 προστεθήτω Ἀαρὼν πρὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν δέδωκα τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ, διότι παρωξύνατέ με ἐπὶ τοῦ ὕδατος τῆς λοιδορίας. |

| 26 καὶ ἔκδυσον Ἀαρὼν τὴν στολὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔνδυσον Ἐλεάζαρ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ Ἀαρὼν προστεθεὶς ἀποθανέτω ἐκεῖ. | 26 καὶ ἔκδυσον Ἀαρὼν τὴν στολὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔνδυσον Ἐλεάζαρ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ Ἀαρὼν προστεθεὶς ἀποθανέτω ἐκεῖ. |

27 And Mōysēs did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
וַיַּ֣עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה וַֽיַּעֲלוּ֙ אֶל־הֹ֣ר הָהָ֔ר לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־הָעֵדָֽה׃
| 27 καὶ ἐποίησεν Μωυσῆς καθὰ συνέταξεν κύριος, καὶ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτὸν εἰς Ὤρ τὸ ὄρος ἐναντίον πάσης τῆς συναγωγῆς. | 27 καὶ ἐποίησε Μωυσῆς καθὰ συνέταξε Κύριος αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτὸν εἰς Ὢρ τὸ ὄρος ἐναντίον πάσης τῆς συναγωγῆς. |

| 28 καὶ ἐξέδυσεν Ἀαρὼν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνέδυσεν αὐτὰ Ἐλεάζαρ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ἀαρὼν ἐπὶ τῆς κορυφῆς τοῦ ὄρους, καὶ κατέβη Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἐλεάζαρ ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους. | 28 καὶ ἐξέδυσε τὸν Ἀαρὼν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνέδυσεν αὐτὰ Ἐλεάζαρ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ἀαρὼν ἐπὶ τῆς κορυφῆς τοῦ ὄρους, καὶ κατέβη Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἐλεάζαρ ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους. |

29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron 30 days, even all the house of Israēl.
וַיִּרְאוּ֙ כָּל־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה כִּ֥י גָוַ֖ע אַהֲרֹ֑ן וַיִּבְכּ֤וּ אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים יֹ֔ום כֹּ֖ל בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
