1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

וַתָּ֣שַׁר דְּבֹורָ֔ה וּבָרָ֖ק בֶּן־אֲבִינֹ֑עַם בַּיֹּ֥ום הַה֖וּא לֵאמֹֽר׃

1 Καὶ ᾖσεν Δεββώρα καὶ Βαρὰκ υἱὸς Ἀβινεὲμ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ εἶπεν 1 Καὶ ᾖσαν Δεββώρα καὶ Βαρὰκ υἱὸς Ἀβινεὲμ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ λέγοντες
1 And Debbōra sang, and Barak son of Abineem, in that day and said: 1 And Debbōra and Barak son of Abineem sang in that day, saying:

2 Praise the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

בִּפְרֹ֤עַ פְּרָעֹות֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּהִתְנַדֵּ֖ב עָ֑ם בָּרֲכ֖וּ יְהוָֽה׃

2 Ἐν τῷ ἄρξασθαι ἀρχηγοὺς ἐν Ἰσραήλ,
ἐν προαιρέσει λαοῦ εὐλογεῖτε τὸν κύριον. 		2 Ἀπεκαλύφθη ἀποκάλυμμα ἐν Ἰσραήλ· ἐν τῷ ἑκουσιασθῆναι λαὸν εὐλογεῖτε κύριον.
2 “When leaders take the lead in Israēl, when people make a choice, bless the Lord! 2 “An uncovering was uncovered in Israēl; when people volunteer, bless the Lord!

3 Hear, Oh you kings; give ear, Oh you princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.

שִׁמְע֣וּ מְלָכִ֔ים הַאֲזִ֖ינוּ רֹֽזְנִ֑ים אָֽנֹכִ֗י לַֽיהוָה֙ אָנֹכִ֣י אָשִׁ֔ירָה אֲזַמֵּ֕ר לַֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

3 ἀκούσατε,
βασιλεῖς,
ἐνωτίζεσθε,
σατράπαι δυνατοί· ἐγὼ τῷ κυρίῳ ᾄσομαι,
ψαλῶ τῷ θεῷ Ἰσραήλ. 		3 ἀκούσατε βασιλεῖς,
καὶ ἐνωτίσασθε σατράπαι· ἐγώ εἰμι τῷ κυρίῳ,
ἐγώ εἰμι ᾄσομαι,
ψαλῶ τῷ κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ Ἰσραήλ.
3 Hear, O kings; give ear, O mighty satraps; I will sing to the Lord; I will make music to the God of Israēl. 3 Hear, O kings, and give ear, O satraps; I am for the Lord–I am! I will sing; I will make music to the Lord, the God of Israēl.

4 LORD, when you went out of Seir, when you marched out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.

יְהוָ֗ה בְּצֵאתְךָ֤ מִשֵּׂעִיר֙ בְּצַעְדְּךָ֙ מִשְּׂדֵ֣ה אֱדֹ֔ום אֶ֣רֶץ רָעָ֔שָׁה גַּם־שָׁמַ֖יִם נָטָ֑פוּ גַּם־עָבִ֖ים נָ֥טְפוּ מָֽיִם׃

4 κύριε,
ἐν τῇ ἐξόδῳ σου ἐκ Σηίρ,
ἐν τῷ ἀπαίρειν σὲ ἐξ ἀγροῦ Ἐδὼμ γῆ ἐσείσθη,
καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς ἐξεστάθη,
καὶ αἱ νεφέλαι ἔσταξαν ὕδωρ· 		4 Κύριε,
ἐν τῇ ἐξόδῳ σου ἐν Σηίρ,
ἐν τῷ ἀπαίρειν σὲ ἐξ ἀγροῦ Ἐδώμ,
γῆ ἐσείσθη καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς ἔσταξεν δρόσους,
καὶ αἱ νεφέλαι ἔσταξαν ὕδωρ.
4 Lord, at your exodus out from Sēir, when you deparated from the field of Edōm, earth shook, and the sky was startled, and the clouds dropped water. 4 Lord, at your exodus out in Sēir, when you departed from the field of Edōm, earth shook, and the sky dropped dews, and the clouds dropped water.

5 The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.

הָרִ֥ים נָזְל֖וּ מִפְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה זֶ֣ה סִינַ֔י מִפְּנֵ֕י יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

5 ὄρη ἐσαλεύθησαν ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου,
τοῦτο Σινᾶ ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου θεοῦ Ἰσραήλ. 		5 ὄρη ἐσαλεύθησαν ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου Ἐλωί,
τοῦτο Σινᾶ ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου θεοῦ Ἰσραήλ.
5 Mountains shook from before the Lord, this Sina, from before the Lord, God of Israēl. 5 Mountains shook from before the Lord Elōi, this Sina, from before the Lord, God of Israēl.

6 In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.

בִּימֵ֞י שַׁמְגַּ֤ר בֶּן־עֲנָת֙ בִּימֵ֣י יָעֵ֔ל חָדְל֖וּ אֳרָחֹ֑ות וְהֹלְכֵ֣י נְתִיבֹ֔ות יֵלְכ֕וּ אֳרָחֹ֖ות עֲקַלְקַלֹּֽות׃

6 ἐν ἡμέραις Σαμεγὰρ υἱοῦ Ἀνάθ,
ἐν ἡμέραις Ἰαὴλ ἐξέλιπον βασιλεῖς καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν τρίβους,
ἐπορεύθησαν ὁδοὺς διεστραμμένας. 		6 ἐν ἡμέραις Σαμεγὰρ υἱοῦ Ἀνάθ,
ἐν ἡμέραις Ἰαήλ,
ἐξέλιπον ὁδοὺς καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἀτραπούς,
ἐπορεύθησαν ὁδοὺς διεστραμμένας.

7 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

חָדְל֧וּ פְרָזֹ֛ון בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל חָדֵ֑לּוּ עַ֤ד שַׁקַּ֙מְתִּי֙ דְּבֹורָ֔ה שַׁקַּ֥מְתִּי אֵ֖ם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

7 ἐξέλιπεν φραζων ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ,
ἐξέλιπεν,
ἕως οὗ ἐξανέστη Δεββώρα,
ὅτι ἀνέστη μήτηρ ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ. 		7 ἐξέλιπον δυνατοὶ ἐν Ἰσραήλ,
ἐξέλιπον,
ἕως οὗ ἀναστῇ Δεββώρα,
ἕως οὗ ἀναστῇ μήτηρ ἐν Ἰσραήλ.
7 A spokesman was non-existent in Israēl; he was non-existent until Debbōra rose up, for she arose as a mother in Israēl. 7 Mighty ones were non-existent in Israēl; they were non-existent until Debbōra should arise until she should arise as a mother in Israēl.

8 They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among 40 thousand in Israel?

יִבְחַר֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים חֲדָשִׁ֔ים אָ֖ז לָחֶ֣ם שְׁעָרִ֑ים מָגֵ֤ן אִם־יֵֽרָאֶה֙ וָרֹ֔מַח בְּאַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

8 ᾑρέτισαν θεοὺς καινοὺς ὡς ἄρτον κρίθινον· σκέπην ἐὰν ἴδω σιρομαστῶν ἐν τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάσιν. 8 ἐξελέξαντο θεοὺς καινούς,
τότε ἐπολέμησαν πόλεις ἀρχόντων· θυρεὸς ἐὰν ὀφθῇ καὶ λόγχη ἐν τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάσιν ἐν Ἰσραήλ.
8 They chose new gods, like barley bread; protection, if I see it, of barbed lances among 40,000! 8 They chose new gods; then the cities of the leaders fought; a shield, if it was seen, and a spear among 40,000 in Israēl!

9 My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless the LORD.

לִבִּי֙ לְחֹוקְקֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הַמִּֽתְנַדְּבִ֖ים בָּעָ֑ם בָּרֲכ֖וּ יְהוָֽה׃

9 ἡ καρδία μου ἐπὶ τὰ διατεταγμένα τῷ Ἰσραήλ· οἱ δυνάσται τοῦ λαοῦ,
εὐλογεῖτε τὸν κύριον. 		9 ἡ καρδία μου εἰς τὰ διατεταγμένα τῷ Ἰσραήλ· οἱ ἑκουσιαζόμενοι ἐν λαῷ,
εὐλογεῖτε κύριον.
9 My heart is for what was ordained for Israēl; the powerful of the people, bless the Lord. 9 My heart is on what was ordained for Israēl; the ones volunteering among the people, bless the Lord.

10 Speak, you who ride on white donkeys, you who sit in judgment, and walk by the way.

רֹכְבֵי֩ אֲתֹנֹ֨ות צְחֹרֹ֜ות יֹשְׁבֵ֧י עַל־מִדִּ֛ין וְהֹלְכֵ֥י עַל־דֶּ֖רֶךְ שִֽׂיחוּ׃

10 ἐπιβεβηκότες ἐπὶ ὑποζυγίων,
καθήμενοι ἐπὶ λαμπηνῶν, 		10 ἐπιβεβηκότες ἐπὶ ὄνου θηλείας μεσημβρίας,
καθήμενοι ἐπὶ κριτηρίου καὶ πορευόμενοι ἐπὶ ὁδοὺς συνέδρων ἐφ’ ὁδῷ·
10 Mounted upon work animals, sitting on covered chariots, 10 Mounted upon a female donkey at noon, sitting on a judgment seat and going toward the ways of councils, on the road

11 They who are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

מִקֹּ֣ול מְחַֽצְצִ֗ים בֵּ֚ין מַשְׁאַבִּ֔ים שָׁ֤ם יְתַנּוּ֙ צִדְקֹ֣ות יְהוָ֔ה צִדְקֹ֥ת פִּרְזֹנֹ֖ו בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אָ֛ז יָרְד֥וּ לַשְּׁעָרִ֖ים עַם־יְהוָֽה׃

11 φθέγξασθε φωνὴν ἀνακρουομένων ἀνὰ μέσον εὐφραινομένων· ἐκεῖ δώσουσιν δικαιοσύνην κυρίῳ.
δίκαιοι ἐνίσχυσαν ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ· τότε κατέβη εἰς τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ ὁ λαὸς κυρίου. 		11 διηγεῖσθε ἀπὸ φωνῆς ἀνακρουομένων,
ἀνὰ μέσον ὑδρευομένων· ἐκεῖ δώσουσιν δικαιοσύνας.
κυρίῳ,
δικαιοσύνας αὔξησον ἐν Ἰσραήλ.
τότε κατέβη εἰς τὰς πόλεις λαὸς κυρίου.
11 utter a sound of those who strike up music, in the midst of those who rejoice! There they will give righteousness to the Lord. The righteous prevailed in Israēl; then the people of the Lord went down to their cities. 11 tell from a voice of those who strike up music, in the midst of those who draw water! There they will give righteousness to the Lord. Increase righteousness in Israēl! Then the Lord’s people went down to the cities.

12 Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead your captivity captive, you son of Abinoam.

עוּרִ֤י עוּרִי֙ דְּבֹורָ֔ה ע֥וּרִי ע֖וּרִי דַּבְּרִי־שִׁ֑יר ק֥וּם בָּרָ֛ק וּֽשֲׁבֵ֥ה שֶׁבְיְךָ֖ בֶּן־אֲבִינֹֽעַם׃

12 ἐξεγείρου ἐξεγείρου,
Δεββώρα,
ἐξέγειρον μυριάδας μετὰ λαοῦ,
ἐξεγείρου ἐξεγείρου,
λάλει μετ’ ᾠδῆς· ἐνισχύων ἐξανίστασο,
Βαράκ,
καὶ ἐνίσχυσον,
Δεββώρα,
τὸν Βαράκ· αἰχμαλώτιζε αἰχμαλωσίαν σου,
υἱὸς Ἀβινεέμ. 		12 ἐξεγείρου ἐξεγείρου,
Δεββώρα,
ἐξεγείρου ἐξεγείρου,
λάλησον ᾠδήν· ἀνάστα Βαράκ,
καὶ αἰχμαλώτισον αἰχμαλωσίαν σου,
υἱὸς Ἀβινεέμ.
12 Awake, awake, Debbōra! Awaken ten thousands with people! Awake, awake, speak with a song. Strengthen, arise, Barak, and, Oh Debbōra, strengthen Barak. Capture your captives, O son of Abineem. 12 Awake, awake, Debbōra! Awake, awake! Sing a song; arise, Barak, and capture your captives, O son of Abineem.

13 Then he made him who remains have dominion over the nobles among the people: the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty.

אָ֚ז יְרַ֣ד שָׂרִ֔יד לְאַדִּירִ֖ים עָ֑ם יְהוָ֕ה יְרַד־לִ֖י בַּגִּבֹּורִֽים׃

13 πότε ἐμεγαλύνθη ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ;
κύριε,
ταπείνωσόν μοι τοὺς ἰσχυροτέρους μου. 		13 τότε κατέβη κατάλειμμα τοῖς ἰσχυροῖς· λαὸς κυρίου κατέβη αὐτῷ ἐν τοῖς κραταιοῖς
13 When was his strength increased? Oh Lord, humble for me those who are stronger than me. 13 Then a remnant went down for the strong ones; the people of the Lord went down for him among the powerful.

14 Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalēk; after you, Benjamin, among your people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they who handle the pen of the writer.

מִנִּ֣י אֶפְרַ֗יִם שָׁרְשָׁם֙ בַּעֲמָלֵ֔ק אַחֲרֶ֥יךָ בִנְיָמִ֖ין בַּֽעֲמָמֶ֑יךָ מִנִּ֣י מָכִ֗יר יָֽרְדוּ֙ מְחֹ֣קְקִ֔ים וּמִ֨זְּבוּלֻ֔ן מֹשְׁכִ֖ים בְּשֵׁ֥בֶט סֹפֵֽר׃

14 λαὸς Ἐφραὶμ ἐτιμωρήσατο αὐτοὺς ἐν κοιλάδι ἀδελφοῦ σου Βενιαμὶν ἐν λαοῖς σου.
ἐξ ἐμοῦ Μαχὶρ κατέβησαν ἐξερευνῶντες,
καὶ ἐκ Ζαβουλὼν κύριος ἐπολέμει μοι ἐν δυνατοῖς ἐκεῖθεν ἐν σκήπτρῳ ἐνισχύοντος ἡγήσεως. 		14 ἐξ ἐμοῦ.
Ἐφραὶμ ἐξερρίζωσεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ Ἀμαλήκ· ὀπίσω σου,
Βενιαμίν,
ἐν τοῖς λαοῖς σου· ἐν ἐμοὶ Μαχὶρ κατέβησαν ἐξερευνῶντες,
καὶ ἀπὸ Ζαβουλὼν ἕλκοντες ἐν ῥάβδῳ διηγήσεως γραμματέως.
14 People of Ephraim avenged them in your brother Benjamin’s valley, among your peoples. Out from me, Machir went down searching; and from Zaboulōn, the Lord kept fighting for me among the mighty, from there with a scepter prevailing in leadership. 14 Out from me, Ephraim uprooted them in Amalēk, behind you, Benjamin, among your peoples; out from me, Machir went down searching, and from Zaboulōn those who draw with a rod of a scribe’s account.

15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

וְשָׂרַ֤י בְּיִשָּׂשכָר֙ עִם־דְּבֹרָ֔ה וְיִשָּׂשכָר֙ כֵּ֣ן בָּרָ֔ק בָּעֵ֖מֶק שֻׁלַּ֣ח בְּרַגְלָ֑יו בִּפְלַגֹּ֣ות רְאוּבֵ֔ן גְּדֹלִ֖ים חִקְקֵי־לֵֽב׃

15 ἐν Ἰσσαχὰρ μετὰ Δεββώρας ἐξαπέστειλεν πεζοὺς αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν κοιλάδα.
ἵνα τί σὺ κατοικεῖς ἐν μέσῳ χειλέων;
ἐξέτεινεν ἐν τοῖς ποσίν αὐτοῦ ἐν διαιρέσεσιν Ῥουβὴν μεγάλοι ἀκριβασμοὶ καρδίας. 		15 καὶ ἀρχηγοὶ ἐν Ἰσσαχὰρ μετὰ Δεββώρας καὶ Βαράκ.
οὕτως Βαρὰκ ἐν κοιλάσιν ἀπέστειλεν ἐν ποσίν αὐτοῦ· εἰς τὰς μερίδας Ῥουβὴν μεγάλοι ἐξικνούμενοι καρδίαν.
15 In Issachar, he sent his infantrymen with Debbōra into the valley. You, why do you dwell in the midst of shores? He spread out with his feet. Among the divisions of Rhoubēn there were great inquiries of heart. 15 And leaders in Issachar were with Debbōra and Barak. Thus Barak sent away in the valleys at his feet. Into the portions of Rhoubēn there were great ones reaching a heart.

16 Why do you abode among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.

לָ֣מָּה יָשַׁ֗בְתָּ בֵּ֚ין הַֽמִּשְׁפְּתַ֔יִם לִשְׁמֹ֖עַ שְׁרִקֹ֣ות עֲדָרִ֑ים לִפְלַגֹּ֣ות רְאוּבֵ֔ן גְּדֹולִ֖ים חִקְרֵי־לֵֽב׃

16 ἵνα τί μοι κάθησαι ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν μοσφαθαιμ τοῦ εἰσακούειν συρισμοὺς ἐξεγειρόντων;
τοῦ διελθεῖν εἰς τὰ τοῦ Ῥουβὴν μεγάλοι ἐξιχνιασμοὶ καρδίας. 		16 εἰς τί ἐκάθισαν ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς διγομίας τοῦ ἀκοῦσαι συρισμοῦ ἀγγέλων;
εἰς διαιρέσεις Ῥουβὴν μεγάλοι ἐξετασμοὶ καρδίας.
16 Tell me; why do you sit among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of those who are awakened? To cross over into the territory of Rhoubēn there were great searchings of heart. 16 Why did they sit between the double saddlebags, to hear the piping of messengers? Into the divisions of Rhoubēn there were great examinings of heart.

17 Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.

גִּלְעָ֗ד בְּעֵ֤בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ שָׁכֵ֔ן וְדָ֕ן לָ֥מָּה יָג֖וּר אֳנִיֹּ֑ות אָשֵׁ֗ר יָשַׁב֙ לְחֹ֣וף יַמִּ֔ים וְעַ֥ל מִפְרָצָ֖יו יִשְׁכֹּֽון׃

17 Γαλαὰδ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου κατεσκήνωσεν· καὶ Δὰν ἵνα τί παροικεῖ πλοίοις;
Ἀσὴρ παρῴκησεν παρ’ αἰγιαλὸν θαλασσῶν καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς διακοπὰς αὐτοῦ κατεσκήνωσεν. 		17 Γαλαὰδ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ἐσκήνωσεν· καὶ Δὰν εἰς τί παροικεῖ πλοίοις;
Ἀσὴρ ἐκάθισεν παραλίαν θαλασσῶν,
καὶ ἐπὶ διεξόδοις αὐτοῦ σκηνώσει.
17 Galaad encamped beyond the Jordan; and Dan, why does he dwell by the ships? Aser dwelt at the shore of seas and encamped by his channels. 17 Galaad encamped beyond the Jordan; and Dan, why does he dwell by the ships? Aser dwelt at the coast of seas and will camp by its outlets.

18 Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

זְבֻל֗וּן עַ֣ם חֵרֵ֥ף נַפְשֹׁ֛ו לָמ֖וּת וְנַפְתָּלִ֑י עַ֖ל מְרֹומֵ֥י שָׂדֶֽה׃

18 Ζαβουλὼν λαὸς ὀνειδίσας ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ εἰς θάνατον καὶ Νεφθαλὶμ ἐπὶ ὕψη ἀγροῦ. 18 Ζαβουλὼν λαὸς ὠνείδισεν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ εἰς θάνατον,
καὶ Νεφθαλί,
ἐπὶ ὕψη ἀγροῦ.
18 Zaboulōn is a people that scorned their life to death; Nephthalim also, on the heights of the field. 18 The people of Zaboulōn scorned their life to death; Nephthali too, on the heights of the field.

19 The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

בָּ֤אוּ מְלָכִים֙ נִלְחָ֔מוּ אָ֤ז נִלְחֲמוּ֙ מַלְכֵ֣י כְנַ֔עַן בְּתַעְנַ֖ךְ עַל־מֵ֣י מְגִדֹּ֑ו בֶּ֥צַע כֶּ֖סֶף לֹ֥א לָקָֽחוּ׃

19 ἦλθον βασιλεῖς καὶ παρετάξαντο.
τότε ἐπολέμησαν βασιλεῖς Χαναὰν ἐν Θεννὰχ ἐπὶ ὕδατος Μαγεδδώ· πλεονεξίαν ἀργυρίου οὐκ ἔλαβον. 		19 ἦλθον αὐτῶν βασιλεῖς,
παρετάξαντο,
τότε ἐπολέμησαν βασιλεῖς Χαναάν,
ἐν Θαναὰχ ἐπὶ ὕδατι Μεγεδδώ· δῶρον ἀργυρίου οὐκ ἔλαβον.
19 Kings came, and they deployed troops, then fought kings of Chanaan at Thennach, by the water of Mageddō; they got no excessive share of silver. 19 Their kings came, they deployed troops, then fought kings of Chanaan, at Thanaach, by the water of Megeddō; they got no gift of silver.

20 They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

מִן־שָׁמַ֖יִם נִלְחָ֑מוּ הַכֹּֽוכָבִים֙ מִמְּסִלֹּותָ֔ם נִלְחֲמ֖וּ עִם־סִיסְרָֽא׃

20 ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐπολέμησαν ἀστέρες,
ἐκ τῆς τάξεως αὐτῶν ἐπολέμησαν μετὰ Σισάρα. 		20 ἐξ οὐρανοῦ παρετάξαντο οἱ ἀστέρες,
ἐκ τρίβων αὐτῶν παρετάξαντο μετὰ Σισάρα.
20 Stars fought from the sky, from their natural course they fought with Sisara. 20 The stars from heaven deployed troops, from their paths they deployed troops with Sisara.

21 The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. Oh my soul, you have trodden down strength.

נַ֤חַל קִישֹׁון֙ גְּרָפָ֔ם נַ֥חַל קְדוּמִ֖ים נַ֣חַל קִישֹׁ֑ון תִּדְרְכִ֥י נַפְשִׁ֖י עֹֽז׃

21 χειμάρρους Κισῶν ἐξέβαλεν αὐτούς,
χειμάρρους Καδημίμ,
χειμάρρους Κισῶν· καταπατήσει αὐτοὺς ψυχή μου δυνατή. 		21 χειμάρρους Κισῶν ἐξέσυρεν αὐτούς,
χειμάρρους ἀρχαίων,
χειμάρρους Κισῶν· καταπατήσει αὐτὸν ψυχή μου δυνατή.
21 Kisōn stream threw them out, Kadēmim stream, Kisōn stream. My mighty soul will trample them! 21 Kisōn stream swept them away, streams of ancients, Kisōn stream. My mighty soul will trample it!

22 Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the prancings, the prancings of their mighty ones.

אָ֥ז הָלְמ֖וּ עִקְּבֵי־ס֑וּס מִֽדַּהֲרֹ֖ות דַּהֲרֹ֥ות אַבִּירָֽיו׃

22 τότε ἀπεκόπησαν πτέρναι ἵππου,
ἀμαδαρὼθ δυνατῶν αὐτοῦ. 		22 τότε ἐνεποδίσθησαν πτέρναι ἵππου,
σπουδῇ ἔσπευσαν ἰσχυροὶ αὐτοῦ.
22 Then tendons of a horse were cut, galloping of his mighty ones. 22 Then tendons of a horse were shackled; his strong ones hurried quickly.

23 Curse you Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse you bitterly the inhabitants of it; because they didn’t come to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

אֹ֣ורוּ מֵרֹ֗וז אָמַר֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה אֹ֥רוּ אָרֹ֖ור יֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָ כִּ֤י לֹֽא־בָ֙אוּ֙ לְעֶזְרַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה לְעֶזְרַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה בַּגִּבֹּורִֽים׃

23 καταράσασθε Μαρώζ,
εἶπεν ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου,
καταράσει καταράσασθε τοὺς ἐνοίκους αὐτῆς,
ὅτι οὐκ ἤλθοσαν εἰς τὴν βοήθειαν κυρίου· βοηθὸς ἡμῶν κύριος ἐν μαχηταῖς δυνατός. 		23 Καταρᾶσθε Μηρώζ,
εἶπεν ἄγγελος κυρίου,
καταρᾶσθε· ἐπικατάρατος πᾶς ὁ κατοικῶν αὐτήν· ὅτι οὐκ ἤλθοσαν εἰς βοήθειαν κυρίου,
εἰς βοήθειαν ἐν δυνατοῖς.
23 Curse Marōz, said the angel of the Lord, curse its inhabitants with a curse, because they didn’t come to the help of the Lord; the Lord is our helper, mighty with warriors. 23 Curse Merōz, said an angel of the Lord, curse it; accursed be everyone who inhabits it, because they didn’t come to the Lord’s help, for help among the powerful.

24 Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

תְּבֹרַךְ֙ מִנָּשִׁ֔ים יָעֵ֕ל אֵ֖שֶׁת חֶ֣בֶר הַקֵּינִ֑י מִנָּשִׁ֥ים בָּאֹ֖הֶל תְּבֹרָֽךְ׃

24 εὐλογηθείη ἐκ γυναικῶν Ἰαὴλ γυνὴ Χαβὲρ τοῦ Κιναίου,
ἐκ γυναικῶν ἐν σκηνῇ εὐλογηθείη. 		24 εὐλογηθείη ἐν γυναιξὶν Ἰαήλ,
γυνὴ Χαβὲρ τοῦ Κιναίου· ἀπὸ γυναικῶν ἐν σκηναῖς εὐλογηθείη.
24 May Jaēl of women be blessed, wife of Chaber the Kinite; of women in a tent may she be blessed. 24 May Jaēl among women be blessed, wife of Chaber the Kinite; of women in tents may she be blessed.

25 He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.

מַ֥יִם שָׁאַ֖ל חָלָ֣ב נָתָ֑נָה בְּסֵ֥פֶל אַדִּירִ֖ים הִקְרִ֥יבָה חֶמְאָֽה׃

25 ὕδωρ ᾔτησεν αὐτήν,
καὶ γάλα ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ,
ἐν λακάνῃ ἰσχυρῶν προσήγγισεν βούτυρον. 		25 ὕδωρ ᾔτησεν,
γάλα ἔδωκεν· ἐν λεκάνῃ ὑπερεχόντων προσήνεγκεν βούτυρον.
25 He asked her for water, and she gave him milk; she brought butter near in a dish of strong ones. 25 He asked for water; she gave milk; she brought butter in a dish of those with authority.

26 She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.

יָדָהּ֙ לַיָּתֵ֣ד תִּשְׁלַ֔חְנָה וִֽימִינָ֖הּ לְהַלְמ֣וּת עֲמֵלִ֑ים וְהָלְמָ֤ה סִֽיסְרָא֙ מָחֲקָ֣ה רֹאשֹׁ֔ו וּמָחֲצָ֥ה וְחָלְפָ֖ה רַקָּתֹֽו׃

26 τὴν χεῖρα αὐτῆς τὴν ἀριστερὰν εἰς πάσσαλον ἐξέτεινεν,
τὴν δεξιὰν αὐτῆς εἰς ἀποτομὰς κατακόπων καὶ ἀπέτεμεν Σισάρα,
ἀπέτριψεν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ συνέθλασεν καὶ διήλασεν τὴν γνάθον αὐτοῦ. 		26 χεῖρα αὐτῆς ἀριστερὰν εἰς πάσσαλον ἐξέτεινεν καὶ δεξιὰν αὐτῆς εἰς σφῦραν κοπιώντων· καὶ ἐσφυροκόπησεν Σισάρα,
διήλωσεν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπάταξεν,
διήλωσεν κρόταφον αὐτοῦ.
26 She put her left hand on a peg, her right hand to the cutting off of weary ones, and she beheaded Sisara; she crushed his skull, and she shattered and pierced his jaw. 26 She put her left hand on a peg, and her right hand to a hammer of workers, and she hammered Sisara; she pierced his head, and she struck; she nailed his temple.

27 At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

בֵּ֣ין רַגְלֶ֔יהָ כָּרַ֥ע נָפַ֖ל שָׁכָ֑ב בֵּ֤ין רַגְלֶ֙יהָ֙ כָּרַ֣ע נָפָ֔ל בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרַ֔ע שָׁ֖ם נָפַ֥ל שָׁדֽוּד׃

27 ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῆς συγκάμψας ἔπεσεν,
ἐκοιμήθη μεταξὺ ποδῶν αὐτῆς· ἐν ᾧ ἔκαμψεν ἐκεῖ ἔπεσεν ταλαίπωρος. 		27 ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῆς κατεκυλίσθη,
ἔπεσεν καὶ ἐκοιμήθη· ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῆς κατακλιθεὶς ἔπεσεν· καθὼς κατεκλίθη,
ἐκεῖ ἔπεσεν ἐξοδευθείς.
27 Between her feet he doubled over and fell; he lay between her feet; where he doubled over, there he fell, wretched. 27 Between her feet he rolled down; he fell and lay; between her feet he laid down and fell; as he laid down, there he fell, expired.

28 The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

בְּעַד֩ הַחַלֹּ֨ון נִשְׁקְפָ֧ה וַתְּיַבֵּ֛ב אֵ֥ם סִֽיסְרָ֖א בְּעַ֣ד הָֽאֶשְׁנָ֑ב מַדּ֗וּעַ בֹּשֵׁ֤שׁ רִכְבֹּו֙ לָבֹ֔וא מַדּ֣וּעַ אֶֽחֱר֔וּ פַּעֲמֵ֖י מַרְכְּבֹותָֽיו׃

28 διὰ τῆς θυρίδος διέκυπτεν ἡ μήτηρ Σισάρα διὰ τῆς δικτυωτῆς ἐπιβλέπουσα ἐπὶ τοὺς μεταστρέφοντας μετὰ Σισάρα διὰ τί ἠσχάτισεν τὸ ἅρμα αὐτοῦ παραγενέσθαι;
διὰ τί ἐχρόνισαν ἴχνη ἁρμάτων αὐτοῦ; 		28 διὰ τῆς θυρίδος παρέκυψεν μήτηρ Σισάρα ἐκτὸς τοῦ τοξικοῦ Διότι ᾐσχύνθη ἅρμα αὐτοῦ;
διότι ἐχρόνισαν πόδες ἁρμάτων αὐτοῦ;
28 Through the window the mother of Sisara was bending over, looking down through the lattice at those who returned with Sisara: Why is his chariot the last to arrive? Why do the tracks of his chariots delay? 28 Through the window stooped down Sisara’s mother, beyond the archway: It is because his chariot is ashamed; it is because his chariots’ wheels delay.

29 Her wise ladies answered her, yes, she returned answer to herself,

חַכְמֹ֥ות שָׂרֹותֶ֖יהָ תַּעֲנֶ֑ינָּה אַף־הִ֕יא תָּשִׁ֥יב אֲמָרֶ֖יהָ לָֽהּ׃

29 σοφαὶ ἀρχουσῶν αὐτῆς ἀνταπεκρίναντο πρὸς αὐτήν,
καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπεκρίνατο ἐν ῥήμασιν αὐτῆς 		29 αἱ σοφαὶ ἄρχουσαι αὐτῆς ἀπεκρίθησαν πρὸς αὐτήν,
καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπέστρεψεν λόγους αὐτῆς ἑαυτῇ·
29 The wise among her leading ladies replied to her; she also answered with her own words; 29 The wise, her leading ladies, answered her; she also returned her words to herself;

30 Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of various colours, a prey of various colours of needlework, of various colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of those who take the spoil?

הֲלֹ֨א יִמְצְא֜וּ יְחַלְּק֣וּ שָׁלָ֗ל רַ֤חַם רַחֲמָתַ֙יִם֙ לְרֹ֣אשׁ גֶּ֔בֶר שְׁלַ֤ל צְבָעִים֙ לְסִ֣יסְרָ֔א שְׁלַ֥ל צְבָעִ֖ים רִקְמָ֑ה צֶ֥בַע רִקְמָתַ֖יִם לְצַוְּארֵ֥י שָׁלָֽל׃

30 Οὐχὶ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτὸν διαμερίζοντα σκῦλα;
φιλιάζων φίλοις εἰς κεφαλὴν δυνατοῦ· σκῦλα βαμμάτων Σισάρα,
σκῦλα βαμμάτων ποικιλίας βαφὴ ποικίλων,
περὶ τράχηλον αὐτοῦ σκῦλον. 		30 Οὐχ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτὸν διαμερίζοντα σκῦλα;
οἰκτίρμων οἰκτιρήσει εἰς κεφαλὴν ἀνδρός· σκῦλα βαμμάτων τῷ Σισάρα,
σκῦλα βαμμάτων ποικιλίας,
βάμματα ποικιλτῶν αὐτά,
τῷ τραχήλῳ αὐτοῦ σκῦλα.
30 Won’t they find him dividing the spoil, being friendly to friends toward a mighty one’s head? Sisara’s spoils of dyed cloth, spoils of dyed, embroidered cloth, a dyed robe of various cloth around his neck as spoil? 30 Won’t they find him dividing the spoil? Being compassionate he will show compassion toward a man’s head. Spoils of dyed cloth for Sisara, spoils of dyed, embroidered cloth, dyed pieces of embroiderers, spoils for his neck.

31 So let all your enemies perish, Oh LORD: but let those who love him be as the sun when he goes forth in his might. And the land had rest 40 years.

כֵּ֠ן יֹאבְד֤וּ כָל־אֹויְבֶ֙יךָ֙ יְהוָ֔ה וְאֹ֣הֲבָ֔יו כְּצֵ֥את הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ בִּגְבֻרָתֹ֑ו וַתִּשְׁקֹ֥ט הָאָ֖רֶץ אַרְבָּעִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה׃

31 οὕτως ἀπόλοιντο πάντες οἱ ἐχθροί σου,
κύριε· καὶ οἱ ἀγαπῶντες αὐτὸν καθὼς ἡ ἀνατολὴ τοῦ ἡλίου ἐν δυναστείαις αὐτοῦ.
Καὶ ἡσύχασεν ἡ γῆ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη. 		31 οὕτως ἀπόλοιντο πάντες οἱ ἐχθροί σου,
κύριε· καὶ οἱ ἀγαπῶντες αὐτὸν ὡς ἔξοδος ἡλίου ἐν δυνάμει αὐτοῦ.
Καὶ ἡσύχασεν ἡ γῆ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη.
31 So perish all your enemies, O Lord! And may those who love him be like the rising of the sun in its powers.” And the land had rest 40 years. 31 So perish all your enemies, O Lord! And may those who love him be like the exit of the sun in its power.” And the land had rest 40 years.
