Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around him and listening to the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret; | And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, |

and he saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets. | And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. |

And he got into one of the boats, which was Simōn's, and asked him to put out a little way from the land. And he sat down and began teaching the people from the boat. | And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simōn's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. |
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simōn, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” | Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simōn, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. |

Simōn answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets.” | And Simōn answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at your word I will let down the net. |

When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break; | And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. |

so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink. | And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. |
But when Simōn Peter saw that, he fell down at Jesus’ feet, saying, “Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man!” | When Simōn Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, Oh Lord. |
For amazement had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken; | For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: |

and so also were Jacōb and Jōhn, sons of Zebedai, who were partners with Simōn. And Jesus said to Simōn, “Don’t fear, from now on you will be catching men.” | And so was also Jacōb, and Jōhn, the sons of Zebedai, which were partners with Simōn. And Jesus said unto Simōn, Fear not; from henceforth you shall catch men. |
When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him. | And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him. |

While he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” | And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if you will, you can make me clean. |

And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately the leprosy left him. | And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. |

And he ordered him to tell no one, “But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Mōsēs commanded, as a testimony to them.” | And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing, according as Mōses commanded, for a testimony unto them. |

But the news about him was spreading even farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. | But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. |
But Jesus himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray. | And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. |

One day he was teaching; and there were some Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present for him to perform healing. | And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. |
5:18 καὶ

And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of him. | And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. |
But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus. | And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. |
Seeing their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.” | And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, your sins are forgiven you. |

The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?” | And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? |
But Jesus, aware of their reasonings, answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? | But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason you in your hearts? |
Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? | Whether is easier, to say, Your sins be forgiven you; or to say, Rise up and walk? |
But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,”—He said to the paralytic—“I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.” | But that you may know that the Son of man has power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto you, Arise, and take up your couch, and go into your house. |
Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God. | And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. |
They were all struck with astonishment and began glorifying God; and they were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen remarkable things today.” | And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day. |
After that he went out and noticed a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” | And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. |
And he left everything behind, and got up and began to follow him. | And he left all, rose up, and followed him. |

And Levi gave a big reception for him in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them. | And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. |
The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?” | But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners? |
And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. | And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. |
I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” | I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. |

And they said to him, “The disciples of Jōhn often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but Yours eat and drink.” | And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of Jōhn fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but yours eat and drink? |
And Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you? | And he said unto them, Can you make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? |
But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.” | But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. |

And he was also telling them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. | And he spoke also a parable unto them; No man puts a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new makes a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agrees not with the old. |

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. | And no man puts new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. |
