The Coming Peace and Prosperity of Zion
1 Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,
וַיְהִ֛י דְּבַר־יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֹ֖ות לֵאמֹֽר׃

2 Thus says the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.
כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֔ות קִנֵּ֥אתִי לְצִיֹּ֖ון קִנְאָ֣ה גְדֹולָ֑ה וְחֵמָ֥ה גְדֹולָ֖ה קִנֵּ֥אתִי לָֽהּ׃
| 2 τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ, ἐζήλωσα τὴν Ἱερουσαλὴμ καὶ τὴν Σιὼν ζῆλον μέγαν καὶ θυμῷ μεγάλῳ ἐζήλωσα αὐτήν. | 2 τάδε λέγει Κύριος παντοκράτωρ· ἐζήλωκα τὴν Ἱερουσαλὴμ καὶ τὴν Σιὼν ζῆλον μέγαν καὶ θυμῷ μεγάλῳ ἐζήλωκα αὐτήν. |

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שַׁ֚בְתִּי אֶל־צִיֹּ֔ון וְשָׁכַנְתִּ֖י בְּתֹ֣וךְ יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְנִקְרְאָ֤ה יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ עִ֣יר־הָֽאֱמֶ֔ת וְהַר־יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֹ֖ות הַ֥ר הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃
| 3 Τάδε λέγει κύριος, καὶ ἐπιστρέψω ἐπὶ Σιὼν καὶ κατασκηνώσω ἐν μέσῳ Ἱερουσαλήμ, καὶ κληθήσεται ἡ Ἱερουσαλὴμ πόλις ἡ ἀληθινὴ καὶ τὸ ὄρος κυρίου παντοκράτορος ὄρος ἅγιον. | 3 τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἐπιστρέψω ἐπὶ Σιὼν καὶ κατασκηνώσω ἐν μέσῳ Ἱερουαλήμ, καὶ κληθήσεται ἡ Ἱερουσαλὴμ πόλις ἀληθινὴ καὶ τὸ ὄρος Κυρίου παντοκράτορος ὄρος ἅγιον. |

4 Thus says the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֔ות עֹ֤ד יֵֽשְׁבוּ֙ זְקֵנִ֣ים וּזְקֵנֹ֔ות בִּרְחֹבֹ֖ות יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְאִ֧ישׁ מִשְׁעַנְתֹּ֛ו בְּיָדֹ֖ו מֵרֹ֥ב יָמִֽים׃
| 4 Τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ, ἔτι καθήσονται πρεσβύτεροι καὶ πρεσβύτεραι ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις Ἱερουσαλήμ, ἕκαστος τὴν ῥάβδον αὐτοῦ ἔχων ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ πλήθους ἡμερῶν· | 4 τάδε λέγει Κύριος παντοκράτωρ· ἔτι καθήσονται πρεσβύτεροι καὶ πρεσβύτεραι ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις Ἱερουσαλήμ, ἕκαστος τὴν ῥάβδον αὐτοῦ ἔχων ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ πλήθους ἡμερῶν· |

5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets of it.
וּרְחֹבֹ֤ות הָעִיר֙ יִמָּ֣לְא֔וּ יְלָדִ֖ים וִֽילָדֹ֑ות מְשַׂחֲקִ֖ים בִּרְחֹֽבֹתֶֽיהָ׃

6 Thus says the LORD of hosts; If it is marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in my eyes? says the LORD of hosts.
כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֔ות כִּ֣י יִפָּלֵ֗א בְּעֵינֵי֙ שְׁאֵרִית֙ הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה בַּיָּמִ֖ים הָהֵ֑ם גַּם־בְּעֵינַי֙ יִפָּלֵ֔א נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֹֽות׃

ἀδυνατήσει; λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ. |

ἀδυνατήσει; λέγει Κύριος παντοκράτωρ. |

7 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Look! I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;
כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֔ות הִנְנִ֥י מֹושִׁ֛יעַ אֶת־עַמִּ֖י מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִזְרָ֑ח וּמֵאֶ֖רֶץ מְבֹ֥וא הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃

8 And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.
וְהֵבֵאתִ֣י אֹתָ֔ם וְשָׁכְנ֖וּ בְּתֹ֣וךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְהָיוּ־לִ֣י לְעָ֗ם וַֽאֲנִי֙ אֶהְיֶ֤ה לָהֶם֙ לֵֽאלֹהִ֔ים בֶּאֱמֶ֖ת וּבִצְדָקָֽה׃
| 8 καὶ εἰσάξω αὐτοὺς καὶ κατασκηνώσω ἐν μέσῳ Ἱερουσαλήμ, καὶ ἔσονταί μοι εἰς λαόν, καὶ ἐγὼ ἔσομαι αὐτοῖς εἰς θεὸν ἐν ἀληθείᾳ καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ. | 8 καὶ εἰσάξω αὐτοὺς καὶ κατασκηνώσω ἐν μέσῳ Ἱερουσαλήμ, καὶ ἔσονται ἐμοὶ εἰς λαόν, κἀγὼ ἔσομαι αὐτοῖς εἰς Θεὸν ἐν ἀληθείᾳ καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ. |

9 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, who were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
כֹּֽה־אָמַר֮ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹות֒ תֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָה יְדֵיכֶ֔ם הַשֹּֽׁמְעִים֙ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה אֵ֖ת הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה מִפִּי֙ הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים אֲ֠שֶׁר בְּיֹ֞ום יֻסַּ֨ד בֵּית־יְהוָ֧ה צְבָאֹ֛ות הַהֵיכָ֖ל לְהִבָּנֹֽות׃

10 For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.
כִּ֗י לִפְנֵי֙ הַיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם שְׂכַ֤ר הָֽאָדָם֙ לֹ֣א נִֽהְיָ֔ה וּשְׂכַ֥ר הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה אֵינֶ֑נָּה וְלַיֹּוצֵ֨א וְלַבָּ֤א אֵין־שָׁלֹום֙ מִן־הַצָּ֔ר וַאֲשַׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־כָּל־הָאָדָ֖ם אִ֥ישׁ בְּרֵעֵֽהוּ׃

וְעַתָּ֗ה לֹ֣א כַיָּמִ֤ים הָרִֽאשֹׁנִים֙ אֲנִ֔י לִשְׁאֵרִ֖ית הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֹֽות׃
| 11 καὶ νῦν οὐ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας τὰς ἔμπροσθεν ἐγὼ ποιῶ τοῖς καταλοίποις τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου, λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ, | 11 καὶ νῦν οὐ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας τὰς ἔμπροσθεν ἐγὼ ποιῶ τοῖς καταλοίποις τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου, λέγει Κύριος παντοκράτωρ, |

12 For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.
כִּֽי־זֶ֣רַע הַשָּׁלֹ֗ום הַגֶּ֜פֶן תִּתֵּ֤ן פִּרְיָהּ֙ וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ תִּתֵּ֣ן אֶת־יְבוּלָ֔הּ וְהַשָּׁמַ֖יִם יִתְּנ֣וּ טַלָּ֑ם וְהִנְחַלְתִּ֗י אֶת־שְׁאֵרִ֛ית הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה אֶת־כָּל־אֵֽלֶּה׃
| 12 ἀλλ’ ἢ δείξω εἰρήνην· ἡ ἄμπελος δώσει τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς, καὶ ἡ γῆ δώσει τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς, καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς δώσει τὴν δρόσον αὐτοῦ, καὶ κατακληρονομήσω τοῖς καταλοίποις τοῦ λαοῦ μου πάντα ταῦτα. | 12 ἀλλ’ ἢ δείξω εἰρήνην· ἡ ἄμπελος δώσει τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς, καὶ ἡ γῆ δώσει τὰ γεννήματα αὐτῆς, καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς δώσει τὴν δρόσον αὐτοῦ, καὶ κατακληρονομήσω τοῖς καταλοίποις τοῦ λαοῦ μου τούτου ταῦτα πάντας. |

וְהָיָ֡ה כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ הֱיִיתֶ֨ם קְלָלָ֜ה בַּגֹּויִ֗ם בֵּ֤ית יְהוּדָה֙ וּבֵ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כֵּ֚ן אֹושִׁ֣יעַ אֶתְכֶ֔ם וִהְיִיתֶ֖ם בְּרָכָ֑ה אַל־תִּירָ֖אוּ תֶּחֱזַ֥קְנָה יְדֵיכֶֽם׃
| 13 καὶ ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ἦτε ἐν κατάρᾳ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, οἶκος Ἰούδα καὶ οἶκος Ἰσραὴλ οὕτως διασώσω ὑμᾶς καὶ ἔσεσθε ἐν εὐλογίᾳ· θαρσεῖτε καὶ κατισχύετε ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν ὑμῶν. | 13 καὶ ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ἦτε ἐν κατάρᾳ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὁ οἶκος Ἰούδα καὶ οἶκος Ἰσραήλ, οὕτως διασώσω ὑμᾶς καὶ ἔσεσθε ἐν εὐλογίᾳ· θαρσεῖτε καὶ κατισχύετε ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν ὑμῶν. |

14 For thus says the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, and I repented not:
כִּ֣י כֹ֣ה אָמַר֮ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹות֒ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר זָמַמְ֜תִּי לְהָרַ֣ע לָכֶ֗ם בְּהַקְצִ֤יף אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ אֹתִ֔י אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֑ות וְלֹ֖א נִחָֽמְתִּי׃
| 14 Διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ, ὃν τρόπον διενοήθην τοῦ κακῶσαι ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ παροργίσαι με τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν, λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ, καὶ οὐ μετενόησα, | 14 διότι τάδε λέγει Κύριος παντοκράτωρ· ὃν τρόπον διενοήθην τοῦ κακῶσαι ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ παροργίσαι με τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν, λέγει Κύριος παντοκράτωρ, καὶ οὐ μετενόησα, |

15 So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: do not fear.
כֵּ֣ן שַׁ֤בְתִּי זָמַ֙מְתִּי֙ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה לְהֵיטִ֥יב אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וְאֶת־בֵּ֣ית יְהוּדָ֑ה אַל־תִּירָֽאוּ׃

16 These are the things that you shall do; Speak every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
אֵ֥לֶּה הַדְּבָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּֽעֲשׂ֑וּ דַּבְּר֤וּ אֱמֶת֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־רֵעֵ֔הוּ אֱמֶת֙ וּמִשְׁפַּ֣ט שָׁלֹ֔ום שִׁפְט֖וּ בְּשַׁעֲרֵיכֶֽם׃
| 16 οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι, οὓς ποιήσετε· λαλεῖτε ἀλήθειαν ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ καὶ κρίμα εἰρηνικὸν κρίνατε ἐν ταῖς πύλαις ὑμῶν | 16 οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι, οὓς ποιήσετε· λαλεῖτε ἀλήθειαν ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ, ἀλήθειαν καὶ κρίμα εἰρηνικὸν κρίνατε ἐν ταῖς πύλαις ὑμῶν, |

17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, says the LORD.

וְֽהָלְכ֡וּ יֹשְׁבֵי֩ אַחַ֨ת אֶל־אַחַ֜ת לֵאמֹ֗ר נֵלְכָ֤ה הָלֹוךְ֙ לְחַלֹּות֙ אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וּלְבַקֵּ֖שׁ אֶת־יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֑ות אֵלְכָ֖ה גַּם־אָֽנִי׃

22 Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.
וּבָ֨אוּ עַמִּ֤ים רַבִּים֙ וְגֹויִ֣ם עֲצוּמִ֔ים לְבַקֵּ֛שׁ אֶת־יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֹ֖ות בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וּלְחַלֹּ֖ות אֶת־פְּנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

23 Thus says the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, and shall take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
