14:1 Διώκετε τὴν ἀγάπην, ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ πνευματικά, μᾶλλον δὲ ἵνα προφητεύητε. 1 Διώκετε τὴν ἀγάπην·
ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ πνευματικά, μᾶλλον δὲ ἵνα προφητεύητε.
Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may prophesy.
14:2  γὰρ λαλῶν γλώσσῃ οὐκ ἀνθρώποις λαλεῖ ἀλλὰ θεῷ·
οὐδεὶς γὰρ ἀκούει, πνεύματι δὲ λαλεῖ μυστήρια·
2  γὰρ λαλῶν γλώσσῃ, οὐκ ἀνθρώποις λαλεῖ, ἀλλὰ τῷ θεῷ·
οὐδεὶς γὰρ ἀκούει, πνεύματι δὲ λαλεῖ μυστήρια·
For one who speaks in a tongue doesn’t speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
14:3  δὲ προφητεύων ἀνθρώποις λαλεῖ οἰκοδομὴν καὶ παράκλησιν καὶ παραμυθίαν. 3  δὲ προφητεύων, ἀνθρώποις λαλεῖ οἰκοδομὴν καὶ παράκλησιν καὶ παραμυθίαν.
But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation. But he that prophesieth speaks unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
14:4  λαλῶν γλώσσῃ ἑαυτὸν οἰκοδομεῖ·
δὲ προφητεύων ἐκκλησίαν οἰκοδομεῖ.
4  λαλῶν γλώσσῃ, ἑαυτὸν οἰκοδομεῖ·
δὲ προφητεύων, ἐκκλησίαν οἰκοδομεῖ.
One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church. He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
14:5 θέλω δὲ πάντας ὑμᾶς λαλεῖν γλώσσαις, μᾶλλον δὲ ἵνα προφητεύητε·
μείζων δὲ προφητεύων λαλῶν γλώσσαις ἐκτὸς εἰ μὴ διερμηνεύῃ, ἵνα ἐκκλησία οἰκοδομὴν λάβῃ.
5 θέλω δὲ πάντας ὑμᾶς λαλεῖν γλώσσαις, μᾶλλον δὲ ἵνα προφητεύητε·
μείζων γὰρ προφητεύων λαλῶν γλώσσαις, ἐκτὸς εἰ μὴ διερμηνεύῃ, ἵνα ἐκκλησία οἰκοδομὴν λάβῃ.
Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying. I would that you all spoke with tongues but rather that you prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaks with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
14:6 Νῦν δέ, ἀδελφοί, ἐὰν ἔλθω πρὸς ὑμᾶς γλώσσαις λαλῶν, τί ὑμᾶς ὠφελήσω ἐὰν μὴ ὑμῖν λαλήσω ἐν ἀποκαλύψει ἐν γνώσει ἐν προφητείᾳ [ἐν] διδαχῇ; 6 Νυνὶ δέ, ἀδελφοί, ἐὰν ἔλθω πρὸς ὑμᾶς γλώσσαις λαλῶν, τί ὑμᾶς ὠφελήσω, ἐὰν μὴ ὑμῖν λαλήσω ἐν ἀποκαλύψει, ἐν γνώσει, ἐν προφητείᾳ, ἐν διδαχῇ;
But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation or of knowledge or of prophecy or of teaching? Now, brothers, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
14:7 ὅμως τὰ ἄψυχα φωνὴν διδόντα, εἴτε αὐλὸς εἴτε κιθάρα, ἐὰν διαστολὴν τοῖς φθόγγοις μὴ δῷ, πῶς γνωσθήσεται τὸ αὐλούμενον τὸ κιθαριζόμενον; 7 ὅμως τὰ ἄψυχα φωνὴν διδόντα, εἴτε αὐλός, εἴτε κιθάρα, ἐὰν διαστολὴν τοῖς φθόγγοις μὴ δῷ, πῶς γνωσθήσεται τὸ αὐλούμενον τὸ κιθαριζόμενον;
Yet even lifeless things, either flute or kithara, in producing a sound, if they don’t produce a distinction in the tones, how will it be known what is played on the flute or on the kithara? And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or kithara, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or strummed?
14:8 καὶ γὰρ ἐὰν ἄδηλον σάλπιγξ φωνὴν δῷ, τίς παρασκευάσεται εἰς πόλεμον; 8 καὶ γὰρ ἐὰν ἄδηλον φωνὴν σάλπιγξ δῷ, τίς παρασκευάσεται εἰς πόλεμον;
For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
14:9 οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς διὰ τῆς γλώσσης ἐὰν μὴ εὔσημον λόγον δῶτε, πῶς γνωσθήσεται τὸ λαλούμενον;
ἔσεσθε γὰρ εἰς ἀέρα λαλοῦντες.
9 οὕτω καὶ ὑμεῖς διὰ τῆς γλώσσης ἐὰν μὴ εὔσημον λόγον δῶτε, πῶς γνωσθήσεται τὸ λαλούμενον;
ἔσεσθε γὰρ εἰς ἀέρα λαλοῦντες.
So also you, unless you utter by the tongue speech that is clear, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air. So likewise you, except you utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for you shall speak into the air.
14:10 τοσαῦτα εἰ τύχοι γένη φωνῶν εἰσιν ἐν κόσμῳ καὶ οὐδὲν ἄφωνον· 10 τοσαῦτα, εἰ τύχοι, γένη φωνῶν εἰσιν ἐν κόσμῳ καὶ οὐδὲν αὐτῶν ἄφωνον·
There are, perhaps, a great many kinds of languages in the world, and no kind is without meaning. There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
14:11 ἐὰν οὖν μὴ εἰδῶ τὴν δύναμιν τῆς φωνῆς, ἔσομαι τῷ λαλοῦντι βάρβαρος καὶ λαλῶν ἐν ἐμοὶ βάρβαρος. 11 ἐὰν οὖν μὴ εἰδῶ τὴν δύναμιν τῆς φωνῆς, ἔσομαι τῷ λαλοῦντι βάρβαρος·
καὶ λαλῶν, ἐν ἐμοὶ βάρβαρος·
If then I don’t know the meaning of the language, I will be to the one who speaks a barbarian, and the one who speaks will be a barbarian to me. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaks a barbarian, and he that speaks shall be a barbarian unto me.
14:12 οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς, ἐπεὶ ζηλωταί ἐστε πνευμάτων, πρὸς τὴν οἰκοδομὴν τῆς ἐκκλησίας ζητεῖτε ἵνα περισσεύητε. 12 οὕτω καὶ ὑμεῖς, ἐπεὶ ζηλωταί ἐστε πνευμάτων, πρὸς τὴν οἰκοδομὴν τῆς ἐκκλησίας ζητεῖτε ἵνα περισσεύητε.
So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church. Even so you, forasmuch as you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that you may excel to the edifying of the church.
14:13 Διὸ λαλῶν γλώσσῃ προσευχέσθω ἵνα διερμηνεύῃ. 13 διόπερ λαλῶν γλώσσῃ, προσευχέσθω ἵνα διερμηνεύῃ.
Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. Wherefore let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14:14 ἐὰν [γὰρ] προσεύχωμαι γλώσσῃ τὸ πνεῦμά μου προσεύχεται, δὲ νοῦς μου ἄκαρπός ἐστιν. 14 ἐὰν γὰρ προσεύχωμαι γλώσσῃ, τὸ πνεῦμά μου προσεύχεται, δὲ νοῦς μου ἄκαρπός ἐστι.
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
14:15 τί οὖν ἐστιν;
προσεύξομαι τῷ πνεύματι, προσεύξομαι δὲ καὶ τῷ νοΐ·
ψαλῶ τῷ πνεύματι, ψαλῶ δὲ καὶ τῷ νοΐ.
15 τί οὖν ἐστι;
προσεύξομαι τῷ πνεύματι, προσεύξομαι δὲ καὶ τῷ νοΐ·
ψαλῶ τῷ πνεύματι, ψαλῶ δὲ καὶ τῷ νοΐ.
What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
14:16 ἐπεὶ ἐὰν εὐλογῇς [ἐν] πνεύματι, ἀναπληρῶν τὸν τόπον τοῦ ἰδιώτου πῶς ἐρεῖ τὸ Ἀμήν ἐπὶ τῇ σῇ εὐχαριστίᾳ;
ἐπειδὴ τί λέγεις οὐκ οἶδεν·
16 ἐπεὶ ἐὰν εὐλογήσῃς τῷ πνεύματι, ἀναπληρῶν τὸν τόπον τοῦ ἰδιώτου πῶς ἐρεῖ τὸ Ἀμήν ἐπὶ τῇ σῇ εὐχαριστίᾳ, ἐπειδὴ τί λέγεις οὐκ οἶδε;
Otherwise if you bless in the spirit only, how will the one who fills the place of the ungifted say the “Amēn” at your giving of thanks, since he doesn’t know what you are saying? Else when you shall bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amēn at your giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what you sayest?
14:17 σὺ μὲν γὰρ καλῶς εὐχαριστεῖς ἀλλ᾿ ἕτερος οὐκ οἰκοδομεῖται. 17 σὺ μὲν γὰρ καλῶς εὐχαριστεῖς, ἀλλ᾿ ἕτερος οὐκ οἰκοδομεῖται.
For you are giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not edified. For you verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
14:18 Εὐχαριστῶ τῷ θεῷ, πάντων ὑμῶν μᾶλλον γλώσσαις λαλῶ· 18 Εὐχαριστῶ τῷ θεῷ μου, πάντων ὑμῶν μᾶλλον γλώσσαις λαλῶν·
I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all; I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than you all:
14:19 ἀλλὰ ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ θέλω πέντε λόγους τῷ νοΐ μου λαλῆσαι, ἵνα καὶ ἄλλους κατηχήσω, μυρίους λόγους ἐν γλώσσῃ. 19 ἀλλ᾿ ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ θέλω πέντε λόγους διὰ τοῦ νοός μου λαλῆσαι, ἵνα καὶ ἄλλους κατηχήσω, μυρίους λόγους ἐν γλώσσῃ.
however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue. Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
14:20 Ἀδελφοί, μὴ παιδία γίνεσθε ταῖς φρεσὶν ἀλλὰ τῇ κακίᾳ νηπιάζετε, ταῖς δὲ φρεσὶν τέλειοι γίνεσθε. 20 Ἀδελφοί, μὴ παιδία γίνεσθε ταῖς φρεσὶν·
ἀλλὰ τῇ κακίᾳ νηπιάζετε, ταῖς δὲ φρεσὶ τέλειοι γίνεσθε.
Brothers, don’t be children in your thinking; yet in evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature. Brothers, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be you children, but in understanding be men.
14:21 ἐν τῷ νόμῳ γέγραπται ὅτι ἐν ἑτερογλώσσοις καὶ ἐν χείλεσιν ἑτέρων λαλήσω τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ καὶ οὐδ᾿ οὕτως εἰσακούσονταί μου, λέγει κύριος. 21 ἐν τῷ νόμῳ γέγραπται, ὅτι ἐν ἑτερογλώσσοις, καὶ ἐν χείλεσιν ἑτέροις, λαλήσω τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ, καὶ οὐδ᾿ οὕτως εἰσακούσονταί μου, λέγει κύριος.
In the Law it is written, “By men of strange tongues and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to me,” says the Lord. In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, says the Lord.
14:22 ὥστε αἱ γλῶσσαι εἰς σημεῖόν εἰσιν οὐ τοῖς πιστεύουσιν ἀλλὰ τοῖς ἀπίστοις, δὲ προφητεία οὐ τοῖς ἀπίστοις ἀλλὰ τοῖς πιστεύουσιν. 22 ὥστε αἱ γλῶσσαι εἰς σημεῖόν εἰσιν, οὐ τοῖς πιστεύουσιν, ἀλλὰ τοῖς ἀπίστοις·
δὲ προφητεία, οὐ τοῖς ἀπίστοις, ἀλλὰ τοῖς πιστεύουσιν.
So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
14:23 Ἐὰν οὖν συνέλθῃ ἐκκλησία ὅλη ἐπὶ[1] τὸ αὐτὸ καὶ πάντες λαλῶσιν γλώσσαις, εἰσέλθωσιν δὲ ἰδιῶται ἄπιστοι, οὐκ ἐροῦσιν ὅτι μαίνεσθε; 23 ἐὰν οὖν συνέλθῃ ἐκκλησία ὅλη ἐπὶ[1] τὸ αὐτό, καὶ πάντες γλώσσαις λαλῶσιν, εἰσέλθωσι δὲ ἰδιῶται ἄπιστοι, οὐκ ἐροῦσιν ὅτι μαίνεσθε;
Therefore if the whole church assembles together and all speak in tongues, and ungifted men or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are mad? If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are mad?
14:24 ἐὰν δὲ πάντες προφητεύωσιν, εἰσέλθῃ δὲ τις ἄπιστος ἰδιώτης, ἐλέγχεται ὑπὸ πάντων, ἀνακρίνεται ὑπὸ πάντων, 24 ἐὰν δὲ πάντες προφητεύωσιν, εἰσέλθῃ δέ τις ἄπιστος ἰδιώτης, ἐλέγχεται ὑπὸ πάντων, ἀνακρίνεται ὑπὸ πάντων,
But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
14:25 τὰ κρυπτὰ τῆς καρδίας αὐτοῦ φανερὰ γίνεται, καὶ οὕτως πεσὼν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον προσκυνήσει τῷ θεῷ ἀπαγγέλλων ὅτι ὄντως θεὸς ἐν ὑμῖν ἐστιν. 25 καὶ οὕτω τὰ κρυπτὰ τῆς καρδίας αὐτοῦ φανερὰ γίνεται·
καὶ οὕτω πεσὼν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον, προσκυνήσει τῷ θεῷ, ἀπαγγέλλων ὅτι θεὸς ὄντως ἐν ὑμῖν ἐστι.
the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall facedown and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you. And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling facedown he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
14:26 Τί οὖν ἐστιν, ἀδελφοί;
ὅταν συνέρχησθε, ἕκαστος ψαλμὸν ἔχει, διδαχὴν ἔχει, ἀποκάλυψιν ἔχει, γλῶσσαν ἔχει, ἑρμηνείαν ἔχει·
πάντα πρὸς οἰκοδομὴν γινέσθω.
26 Τί οὖν ἐστιν, ἀδελφοί;
ὅταν συνέρχησθε, ἕκαστος ὑμῶν ψαλμὸν ἔχει, διδαχὴν ἔχει, γλῶσσαν ἔχει, ἀποκάλυψιν ἔχει, ἑρμηνείαν ἔχει·
πάντα πρὸς οἰκοδομὴν γινέσθω.
What is the outcome then, brothers? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. How is it then, brothers? when you come together, every one of you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
14:27 εἴτε γλώσσῃ τις λαλεῖ, κατὰ δύο τὸ πλεῖστον τρεῖς καὶ ἀνὰ μέρος,[2] καὶ εἷς διερμηνευέτω· 27 εἴτε γλώσσῃ τις λαλεῖ, κατὰ δύο τὸ πλεῖστον τρεῖς, καὶ ἀνὰ μέρος,[2] καὶ εἷς διερμηνευέτω.
If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
14:28 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ διερμηνευτής, σιγάτω ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ, ἑαυτῷ δὲ λαλείτω καὶ τῷ θεῷ. 28 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ διερμηνευτής, σιγάτω ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ·
ἑαυτῷ δὲ λαλείτω καὶ τῷ θεῷ.
but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
14:29 προφῆται δὲ δύο τρεῖς λαλείτωσαν καὶ οἱ ἄλλοι διακρινέτωσαν· 29 προφῆται δὲ δύο τρεῖς λαλείτωσαν, καὶ οἱ ἄλλοι διακρινέτωσαν·
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment. Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
14:30 ἐὰν δὲ ἄλλῳ ἀποκαλυφθῇ καθημένῳ, πρῶτος σιγάτω. 30 ἐὰν δὲ ἄλλῳ ἀποκαλυφθῇ καθημένῳ, πρῶτος σιγάτω.
But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, the first one must keep silent. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
14:31 δύνασθε γὰρ καθ᾿ ἕνα πάντες προφητεύειν, ἵνα πάντες μανθάνωσιν καὶ πάντες παρακαλῶνται. 31 δύνασθε γὰρ καθ᾿ ἕνα πάντες προφητεύειν, ἵνα πάντες μανθάνωσι, καὶ πάντες παρακαλῶνται·
For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; For you may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
14:32 καὶ πνεύματα προφητῶν προφήταις ὑποτάσσεται, 32 καὶ πνεύματα προφητῶν προφήταις ὑποτάσσεται·
and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
14:33 οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ἀκαταστασίας θεὸς ἀλλὰ εἰρήνης.
Ὡς ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῶν ἁγίων
33 οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ἀκαταστασίας θεός, ἀλλ᾿ εἰρήνης, ὡς ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῶν ἁγίων.
for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
14:34 αἱ γυναῖκες ἐν ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις σιγάτωσαν·
οὐ γὰρ ἐπιτρέπεται αὐταῖς λαλεῖν, ἀλλὰ ὑποτασσέσθωσαν, καθὼς καὶ νόμος λέγει.
34 αἱ γυναῖκες ὑμῶν ἐν ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις σιγάτωσαν·
οὐ γὰρ ἐπιτέτραπται αὐταῖς λαλεῖν, ἀλλ᾿ ὑποτάσσεσθαι, καθὼς καὶ νόμος λέγει.
The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also says the law.
14:35 εἰ δέ τι μαθεῖν θέλουσιν, ἐν οἴκῳ τοὺς ἰδίους ἄνδρας ἐπερωτάτωσαν·
αἰσχρὸν γάρ ἐστιν γυναικὶ λαλεῖν ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ.
35 εἰ δέ τι μαθεῖν θέλουσιν, ἐν οἴκῳ τοὺς ἰδίους ἄνδρας ἐπερωτάτωσαν·
αἰσχρὸν γάρ ἐστι γυναιξὶν ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ λαλεῖν.
If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
14:36  ἀφ᾿ ὑμῶν λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθεν, εἰς ὑμᾶς μόνους κατήντησεν; 36  ἀφ᾿ ὑμῶν λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθεν;
εἰς ὑμᾶς μόνους κατήντησεν;
Was it from you that the word of God first went forth? Or has it come to you only? What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
14:37 Εἴ τις δοκεῖ προφήτης εἶναι πνευματικός, ἐπιγινωσκέτω γράφω ὑμῖν ὅτι κυρίου ἐστὶν ἐντολή· 37 εἴ τις δοκεῖ προφήτης εἶναι πνευματικός, ἐπιγινωσκέτω γράφω ὑμῖν, ὅτι τοῦ κυρίου ἐστὶν ἐντολαί·
If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment. If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
14:38 εἰ δέ τις ἀγνοεῖ, ἀγνοεῖται. 38 εἰ δέ τις ἀγνοεῖ, ἀγνοείτω.
But if anyone doesn’t recognize this, he is not recognized. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
14:39 Ὥστε, ἀδελφοί [μου], ζηλοῦτε τὸ προφητεύειν καὶ τὸ λαλεῖν μὴ κωλύετε γλώσσαις· 39 Ὥστε, ἀδελφοί, ζηλοῦτε τὸ προφητεύειν, καὶ τὸ λαλεῖν γλώσσαις μὴ κωλύετε.
Therefore, my brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and don’t forbid to speak in tongues. Wherefore, brothers, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
14:40 πάντα δὲ εὐσχημόνως καὶ κατὰ τάξιν γινέσθω. 40 πάντα εὐσχημόνως καὶ κατὰ τάξιν γινέσθω.
But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner. Let all things be done decently and in order.

[1] ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό = at same place/time; in common, together

[2] ἀνὰ μέρος = one after another, in succession
