Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and of Christ Jesus, who is our hope, Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, As I besought you to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that you mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith. Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they don’t understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions. Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted. According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because he considered me faithful, putting me into service, And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate his perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in him for eternal life. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amēn. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amēn.
This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, This charge I commit unto you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on you, that you by them mightest war a good warfare;
keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme. Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
