1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 Hear the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

שִׁמְע֕וּ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֖י הַבְּרִ֣ית הַזֹּ֑את וְדִבַּרְתָּם֙ אֶל־אִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה וְעַל־יֹשְׁבֵ֖י יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

2 ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης.
καὶ λαλήσεις πρὸς ἄνδρας Ἰούδα καὶ πρὸς τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ἱερουσαλήμ· 		2 ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης.

3 And say unto them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man who doesn’t obey the words of this covenant,

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם כֹּֽה־אָמַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אָר֣וּר הָאִ֔ישׁ אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א יִשְׁמַ֔ע אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֖י הַבְּרִ֥ית הַזֹּֽאת׃

3 καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ὃς οὐκ ἀκούσεται τῶν λόγων τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης, 3 καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς· τάδε λέγει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραήλ· ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ὃς οὐκ ἀκούσεται τῶν λόγων τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης,

4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall you be my people, and I will be your God:

אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוִּ֣יתִי אֶת־אֲבֹֽותֵיכֶ֡ם בְּיֹ֣ום הֹוצִיאִֽי־אֹותָ֣ם מֵאֶֽרֶץ־מִצְרַיִם֩ מִכּ֨וּר הַבַּרְזֶ֜ל לֵאמֹ֗ר שִׁמְע֤וּ בְקֹולִי֙ וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֣ם אֹותָ֔ם כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־אֲצַוֶּ֖ה אֶתְכֶ֑ם וִהְיִ֤יתֶם לִי֙ לְעָ֔ם וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם לֵאלֹהִֽים׃

4 ἧς ἐνετειλάμην τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ, ᾗ ἀνήγαγον αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἐκ καμίνου τῆς σιδηρᾶς λέγων ἀκούσατε τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ ποιήσατε πάντα, ὅσα ἐὰν ἐντείλωμαι ὑμῖν, καὶ ἔσεσθέ μοι εἰς λαόν, καὶ ἐγὼ ἔσομαι ὑμῖν εἰς θεόν, 4 ἧς ἐνετειλάμην τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ, ᾗ ἀνήγαγον αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, ἐκ καμίνου τῆς σιδηρᾶς, λέγων· ἀκούσατε τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ ποιήσατε πάντας, ὅσα ἐὰν ἐντείλωμαι ὑμῖν, καὶ ἔσεσθέ μοι εἰς λαόν, καὶ ἐγὼ ἔσομαι ὑμῖν εἰς Θεόν,

5 That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, Oh LORD.

לְמַעַן֩ הָקִ֨ים אֶת־הַשְּׁבוּעָ֜ה אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי לַאֲבֹֽותֵיכֶ֗ם לָתֵ֤ת לָהֶם֙ אֶ֣רֶץ זָבַ֥ת חָלָ֛ב וּדְבַ֖שׁ כַּיֹּ֣ום הַזֶּ֑ה וָאַ֥עַן וָאֹמַ֖ר אָמֵ֥ן ׀ יְהוָֽה׃

5 ὅπως στήσω τὸν ὅρκον μου, ὃν ὤμοσα τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν, τοῦ δοῦναι αὐτοῖς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι καθὼς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη.
καὶ ἀπεκρίθην καὶ εἶπα γένοιτο, κύριε. 		5 ὅπως στήσω τὸν ὅρκον μου, ὃν ὠμόσαμεν τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν, τοῦ δοῦναι αὐτοῖς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι καθὼς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη.

6 Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י קְרָ֨א אֶת־כָּל־הַדְּבָרִ֤ים הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וּבְחֻצֹ֥ות יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר שִׁמְע֗וּ אֶת־דִּבְרֵי֙ הַבְּרִ֣ית הַזֹּ֔את וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם אֹותָֽם׃

6 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με ἀνάγνωθι τοὺς λόγους τούτους ἐν πόλεσιν Ἰούδα καὶ ἔξωθεν Ἱερουσαλὴμ λέγων ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης καὶ ποιήσατε αὐτούς. 6 καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρός με· ἀνάγνωθι τοὺς λόγους τούτους ἐν πόλεσιν Ἰούδα καὶ ἔξωθεν Ἱερουσαλὴμ λέγων· ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης καὶ ποιήσατε αὐτούς.

7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

כִּי֩ הָעֵ֨ד הַעִדֹ֜תִי בַּאֲבֹֽותֵיכֶ֗ם בְּיֹום֩ הַעֲלֹותִ֨י אֹותָ֜ם מֵאֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ וְעַד־הַיֹּ֣ום הַזֶּ֔ה הַשְׁכֵּ֥ם וְהָעֵ֖ד לֵאמֹ֑ר שִׁמְע֖וּ בְּקֹולִֽי׃

8 Yet they didn’t obey, nor inclined their ear, but walked everyone in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.

וְלֹ֤א שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ וְלֹֽא־הִטּ֣וּ אֶת־אָזְנָ֔ם וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ אִ֕ישׁ בִּשְׁרִיר֖וּת לִבָּ֣ם הָרָ֑ע וָאָבִ֨יא עֲלֵיהֶ֜ם אֶֽת־כָּל־דִּבְרֵ֧י הַבְּרִית־הַזֹּ֛את אֲשֶׁר־צִוִּ֥יתִי לַעֲשֹׂ֖ות וְלֹ֥א עָשֽׂוּ׃

9 And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלָ֑י נִֽמְצָא־קֶ֙שֶׁר֙ בְּאִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה וּבְיֹשְׁבֵ֖י יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

שָׁ֩בוּ֩ עַל־עֲוֹנֹ֨ת אֲבֹותָ֜ם הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר מֵֽאֲנוּ֙ לִשְׁמֹ֣ועַ אֶת־דְּבָרַ֔י וְהֵ֣מָּה הָלְכ֗וּ אַחֲרֵ֛י אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִ֖ים לְעָבְדָ֑ם הֵפֵ֤רוּ בֵֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וּבֵ֣ית יְהוּדָ֔ה אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֕י אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּרַ֖תִּי אֶת־אֲבֹותָֽם׃

10 ἐπεστράφησαν ἐπὶ τὰς ἀδικίας τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν τῶν πρότερον, οἳ οὐκ ἤθελον εἰσακοῦσαι τῶν λόγων μου, καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτοὶ βαδίζουσιν ὀπίσω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων τοῦ δουλεύειν αὐτοῖς, καὶ διεσκέδασαν οἶκος Ἰσραὴλ καὶ οἶκος Ἰούδα τὴν διαθήκην μου, ἣν διεθέμην πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας αὐτῶν. 10 ἐπεστράφησαν ἐπὶ τὰς ἀδικίας τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν τῶν πρότερον, οἳ οὐκ ἠθέλησαν εἰσακοῦσαι τῶν λόγων μου, καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτοὶ πορεύονται ὀπίσω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων τοῦ δουλεύειν αὐτοῖς, καὶ διεσκέδασεν οἶκος Ἰσραὴλ καὶ οἶκος Ἰούδα τὴν διαθήκην μου, ἣν διεθέμην πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας αὐτῶν.

11 Therefore thus says the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I won’t listen to them.

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְנִ֨י מֵבִ֤יא אֲלֵיהֶם֙ רָעָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יוּכְל֖וּ לָצֵ֣את מִמֶּ֑נָּה וְזָעֲק֣וּ אֵלַ֔י וְלֹ֥א אֶשְׁמַ֖ע אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

12 Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

וְהָֽלְכ֞וּ עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֗ה וְיֹשְׁבֵי֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וְזָֽעֲקוּ֙ אֶל־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֛ר הֵ֥ם מְקַטְּרִ֖ים לָהֶ֑ם וְהֹושֵׁ֛עַ לֹֽא־יֹושִׁ֥יעוּ לָהֶ֖ם בְּעֵ֥ת רָעָתָֽם׃

12 καὶ πορεύσονται πόλεις Ἰούδα καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες Ἱερουσαλὴμ καὶ κεκράξονται πρὸς τοὺς θεούς, οἷς αὐτοὶ θυμιῶσιν αὐτοῖς· μὴ σώσουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν καιρῷ τῶν κακῶν αὐτῶν; 12 καὶ πορεύσονται πόλεις Ἰούδα καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες Ἱερουσαλὴμ καὶ κεκράξονται πρὸς τοὺς θεούς, οἷς αὐτοὶ θυμιῶσιν αὐτοῖς, οἳ μὴ σώσουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τῶν κακῶν αὐτῶν.

13 For according to the number of your cities were your gods, Oh Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have you set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

כִּ֚י מִסְפַּ֣ר עָרֶ֔יךָ הָי֥וּ אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ יְהוּדָ֑ה וּמִסְפַּ֞ר חֻצֹ֣ות יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם שַׂמְתֶּ֤ם מִזְבְּחֹות֙ לַבֹּ֔שֶׁת מִזְבְּחֹ֖ות לְקַטֵּ֥ר לַבָּֽעַל׃

13 ὅτι κατ’ ἀριθμὸν τῶν πόλεών σου ἦσαν θεοί σου, Ἰούδα, καὶ κατ’ ἀριθμὸν ἐξόδων τῆς Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἐτάξατε βωμοὺς θυμιᾶν τῇ Βάαλ. 13 ὅτι κατ’ ἀριθμὸν τῶν πόλεών σου ἦσαν θεοί σου, Ἰούδα, καὶ κατ’ ἀριθμὸν ἐξόδων τῆς Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἐτάξατε βωμοὺς θυμιᾶν τῇ Βάαλ.

14 Therefore pray not you for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I won’t hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

וְאַתָּ֗ה אַל־תִּתְפַּלֵּל֙ בְּעַד־הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה וְאַל־תִּשָּׂ֥א בַעֲדָ֖ם רִנָּ֣ה וּתְפִלָּ֑ה כִּ֣י אֵינֶ֣נִּי שֹׁמֵ֗עַ בְּעֵ֛ת קָרְאָ֥ם אֵלַ֖י בְּעַ֥ד רָעָתָֽם׃

14 καὶ σὺ μὴ προσεύχου περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου καὶ μὴ ἀξίου περὶ αὐτῶν ἐν δεήσει καὶ προσευχῇ, ὅτι οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι ἐν τῷ καιρῷ, ἐν ᾧ ἐπικαλοῦνταί με, ἐν καιρῷ κακώσεως αὐτῶν. 14 καὶ σὺ μὴ προσεύχου περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου καὶ μὴ ἀξίου περὶ αὐτῶν ἐν δεήσει καὶ προσευχῇ, ὅτι οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι ἐν τῷ καιρῷ, ἐν ᾧ ἐπικαλοῦνταί με, ἐν καιρῷ κακώσεως αὐτῶν.

15 What has my beloved to do in my house, seeing she has wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from you? when you do evil, then you rejoice.

מֶ֣ה לִֽידִידִ֞י בְּבֵיתִ֗י עֲשֹׂותָ֤הּ הַֽמְזִמָּ֙תָה֙ הָֽרַבִּ֔ים וּבְשַׂר־קֹ֖דֶשׁ יַעַבְר֣וּ מֵֽעָלָ֑יִךְ כִּ֥י רָעָתֵ֖כִי אָ֥ז תַּעֲלֹֽזִי׃

15 τί ἡ ἠγαπημένη ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου ἐποίησεν βδέλυγμα;
μὴ εὐχαὶ καὶ κρέα ἅγια ἀφελοῦσιν ἀπὸ σου τὰς κακίας σου, ἢ τούτοις διαφεύξῃ; 		15 τί ἡ ἠγαπημένη ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου ἐποίησε βδέλυγμα;
μὴ εὐχαὶ καὶ κρέα ἅγια ἀφελοῦσιν ἀπὸ σοῦ τὰς κακίας σου, ἢ τούτοις διαφεύξῃ;

16 The LORD called your name, A green olive tree, fair, and of good fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he has kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

זַ֤יִת רַֽעֲנָן֙ יְפֵ֣ה פְרִי־תֹ֔אַר קָרָ֥א יְהוָ֖ה שְׁמֵ֑ךְ לְקֹ֣ול ׀ הֲמוּלָּ֣ה גְדֹלָ֗ה הִצִּ֥ית אֵשׁ֙ עָלֶ֔יהָ וְרָע֖וּ דָּלִיֹּותָֽיו׃

16 ἐλαίαν ὡραίαν εὔσκιον τῷ εἴδει ἐκάλεσεν κύριος τὸ ὄνομά σου· εἰς φωνὴν περιτομῆς αὐτῆς ἀνήφθη πῦρ ἐπ’ αὐτήν, μεγάλη ἡ θλῖψις ἐπὶ σέ, ἠχρεώθησαν οἱ κλάδοι αὐτῆς. 16 ἐλαίαν ὡραίαν, εὔσκιον τῷ εἴδει ἐκάλεσε Κύριος τὸ ὄνομά σου· εἰς φωνὴν περιτομῆς αὐτῆς ἀνήφθη πῦρ ἐπ’ αὐτήν, μεγάλη ἡ θλῖψις ἐπὶ σέ, ἠχρεώθησαν οἱ κλάδοι αὐτῆς.

17 For the LORD of armies, that planted you, has pronounced evil against you, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

21 Therefore thus says the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek your life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that you die not by our hand:

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּֽה־אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ עַל־אַנְשֵׁ֣י עֲנָתֹ֔ות הַֽמְבַקְשִׁ֥ים אֶֽת־נַפְשְׁךָ֖ לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹ֤א תִנָּבֵא֙ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א תָמ֖וּת בְּיָדֵֽנוּ׃
