1 Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the great, came near,

1 Then came all the leaders of the army, and Jōanan, and Azarias the son of Maasaeas, and all the people great and small, | 1 Then came all the leaders of the army, and Jōanan, and Azarias the son of Maasaeas, and all the people great and small, |
2 And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech you, our supplication be accepted before you, and pray for us unto the LORD your God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes do behold us:)
2 to Jeremias the prophet, and said to him, Let now our supplication come before your face, and pray you to the Lord your God for this remnant; for we are left few out of many, as your eyes see. | 2 to Jeremias the prophet, and said to him, Let now our supplication come before your face, and pray you to the Lord your God for this remnant; for we are left few out of many, as your eyes see. |
3 That the LORD your God may show us the way in which we may walk, and the thing that we may do.
3 And let the Lord your God declare to us the way in which we should walk, and the thing which we should do. | 3 And let the Lord your God declare to us the way in which we should walk, and the thing which we should do. |
4 Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.

4 And Jeremias said to them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray for you to our Lord God, according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatever word the Lord God shall answer, I will declare it to you; I won’t hide anything from you. | 4 And Jeremias said to them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray for you to our Lord God, according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatever word the Lord God shall answer, I will declare it to you; I won’t hide anything from you. |
5 Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we don’t even according to all things for the which the LORD your God shall send you to us.

5 And they said to Jeremias, Let the Lord be between us for a just and faithful witness, if we don’t according to every word which the Lord shall send to us. | 5 And they said to Jeremias, Let the Lord be between us for a just and faithful witness, if we don’t according to every word which the Lord shall send to us. |
6 Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send you; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.

8 And he called Jōanan, and the leaders of the army, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, | 8 And he called Jōanan, and the leaders of the army, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, |

20 that you have wrought wickedness in your hearts, when you sent me, saying, Pray you for us to the Lord; and according to all that the Lord shall speak to you we will do. | 20 that you have wrought wickedness in your hearts, when you sent me, saying, Pray you for us to the Lord; and according to all that the Lord shall speak to you we will do. |
21 And now I have this day declared it to you; but you haven’t obeyed the voice of the LORD your God, nor anything for the which he has sent me unto you.
21 And you haven’t listened to the voice of the Lord, with which he sent me to you. | 21 And you haven’t listened to the voice of the Lord, with which he sent me to you. |
22 Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place to which you desire to go and to stay.

22 Now therefore you shall perish by sword and by famine, in the place which you desire to go into to dwell there. | 22 Now therefore you shall perish by sword and by famine, in the place which you desire to go into to dwell there. |
