Job Feels Insulted
1 Then Job answered and said,
וַיַּ֥עַן אִיֹּ֗וב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

זֶ֤ה עֶ֣שֶׂר פְּ֭עָמִים תַּכְלִימ֑וּנִי לֹֽא־תֵ֝בֹ֗שׁוּ תַּהְכְּרוּ־לִֽי׃

וְאַף־אָמְנָ֥ם שָׁגִ֑יתִי אִ֝תִּ֗י תָּלִ֥ין מְשׁוּגָתִֽי׃
| 4 ναὶ δὴ ἐπ’ ἀληθείας ἐγὼ ἐπλανήθην, παρ’ ἐμοὶ δὲ αὐλίζεται πλάνος λαλῆσαι ῥῆμα, ὃ οὐκ ἔδει, τὰ δὲ ῥήματά μου πλανᾶται καὶ οὐκ ἐπὶ καιροῦ. | 4 ναὶ δὴ ἐπ’ ἀληθείας ἐγὼ ἐπλανήθην, παρ’ ἐμοὶ δὲ αὐλίζεται πλάνος λαλῆσαι ῥήματα, ἃ οὐκ ἔδει, τὰ δὲ ῥήματά μου πλανᾶται καὶ οὐκ ἐπὶ καιροῦ. |

5 If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
אִם־אָ֭מְנָם עָלַ֣י תַּגְדִּ֑ילוּ וְתֹוכִ֥יחוּ עָ֝לַ֗י חֶרְפָּתִּֽי ׃

7 Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

11 He has also kindled his wrath against me, and he counts me unto him as one of his enemies.

יַ֤חַד ׀ יָ֘בֹ֤אוּ גְדוּדָ֗יו וַיָּסֹ֣לּוּ עָלַ֣י דַּרְכָּ֑ם וַיַּחֲנ֖וּ סָבִ֣יב לְאָהֳלִֽי׃

גָּ֘רֵ֤י בֵיתִ֣י וְ֭אַמְהֹתַי לְזָ֣ר תַּחְשְׁבֻ֑נִי נָ֝כְרִ֗י הָיִ֥יתִי בְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃

לְעַבְדִּ֣י קָ֭רָאתִי וְלֹ֣א יַעֲנֶ֑ה בְּמֹו־פִ֝֗י אֶתְחַנֶּן־לֹֽו׃

18 Yes, young children despised me; I arose, and they spoke against me.

23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
מִֽי־יִתֵּ֣ן אֵ֭פֹו וְיִכָּתְב֣וּן מִלָּ֑י מִֽי־יִתֵּ֖ן בַּסֵּ֣פֶר וְיֻחָֽקוּ׃
| 23 τίς γὰρ ἄν δῴη γραφῆναι τὰ ῥήματά μου, τεθῆναι δὲ αὐτὰ ἐν βιβλίῳ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα | 23 τίς γὰρ ἄν δοίη γραφῆναι τὰ ῥήματά μου, τεθῆναι δὲ αὐτὰ ἐν βιβλίῳ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα; |

בְּעֵט־בַּרְזֶ֥ל וְעֹפָ֑רֶת לָ֝עַ֗ד בַּצּ֥וּר יֵחָצְבֽוּן׃

27 Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another; though my insides be consumed within me.

| 29 εὐλαβήθητε δὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀπὸ ἐπικαλύμματος· θυμὸς γὰρ ἐπ’ ἀνόμους ἐπελεύσεται, καὶ τότε γνώσονται ποῦ ἐστιν αὐτῶν ἡ ὕλη. | 29 εὐλαβήθητε δὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀπὸ ἐπικαλύμματος, θυμὸς γὰρ ἐπ’ ἀνόμους ἐπελεύσεται, καὶ τότε γνώσονται ποῦ ἐστιν αὐτῶν ἡ ὕλη. |
