After these things he left Athens and went to Corinth. After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, having recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. he came to them, And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
and because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and they were working, for by trade they were tent-makers. And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks. And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
Then he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God, whose house was next to the synagogue. And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his household, and many of the Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized. And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
And the Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and don’t be silent; Then spoke the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not your peace:
for I am with you, and no man will attack you in order to harm you, for I have many people in this city.” For I am with you, and no man shall set on you to hurt you: for I have much people in this city.
And he settled there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
But while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat, And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.” Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrong or of vicious crime, Oh Jews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you; And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, Oh you Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
but if there are questions about words and names and your own law, look after it yourselves; I am unwilling to be a judge of these matters.” But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look you to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
And he drove them away from the judgment seat. And he drave them from the judgment seat.
And they all took hold of Sosthenes, the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of the judgment seat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of these things. Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
Paul, having remained many days longer, took leave of the brothers and put out to sea for Syria, and with him were Priscilla and Aquila. In Cenchrea he had his hair cut, for he was keeping a vow. And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brothers, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
They came to Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
When they asked him to stay for a longer time, he didn’t consent, When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
but taking leave of them and saying, “I will return to you again if God wills,” he set sail from Ephesus. But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that comes in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and went down to Antioch. And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
And having spent some time there, he left and passed successively through the Galatian region and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples. And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures. And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of Jōhn; This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of Jōhn.
and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
And when he wanted to go across to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him; and when he had arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace, And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brothers wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:
for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ. For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
