Chapter 2

NASTextRec
Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. Therefore you are inexcusable, Oh man, whosoever you are that judgest: for wherein you judgest another, you condemnest yourself; for you that judgest doest the same things.
And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
2:3 λογίζῃ δὲ τοῦτο, ἄνθρωπε κρίνων τοὺς τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντας καὶ ποιῶν αὐτά, ὅτι σὺ ἐκφεύξῃ τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ; 3 λογίζῃ δὲ τοῦτο, ἄνθρωπε κρίνων τοὺς τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντας καὶ ποιῶν αὐτά, ὅτι σὺ ἐκφεύξῃ τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ;
But do you suppose this, Oh man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? And thinkest you this, Oh man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God?
2:4  τοῦ πλούτου τῆς χρηστότητος αὐτοῦ καὶ τῆς ἀνοχῆς καὶ τῆς μακροθυμίας καταφρονεῖς, ἀγνοῶν ὅτι τὸ χρηστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς μετάνοιάν σε ἄγει; 4  τοῦ πλούτου τῆς χρηστότητος αὐτοῦ καὶ τῆς ἀνοχῆς καὶ τῆς μακροθυμίας καταφρονεῖς, ἀγνοῶν ὅτι τὸ χρηστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς μετάνοιάν σε ἄγει;
Or do you think lightly of the riches of his kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? Or despisest you the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth you to repentance?
But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, But after your hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
who will render to each person according to his deeds: Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life; To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
but to those who are selfishly ambitious and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. But unto them that are contentious, and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
but glory and honour and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
For there is no partiality with God. For there is no respect of persons with God.
For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
For when Gentiles who don’t have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
But if you bear the name “Jew” and rely upon the Law and boast in God, Behold, you are called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest your boast of God,
and know his will and approve the things that are essential, being instructed out of the Law, And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, And are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth, An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which have the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
2:21  οὖν διδάσκων ἕτερον σεαυτὸν οὐ διδάσκεις;
κηρύσσων μὴ κλέπτειν κλέπτεις;
21  οὖν διδάσκων ἕτερον, σεαυτὸν οὐ διδάσκεις;
κηρύσσων μὴ κλέπτειν, κλέπτεις;
you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one shall not steal, do you steal? You therefore which teachest another, teachest you not yourself? you that preachest a man should not steal, dost you steal?
2:22  λέγων μὴ μοιχεύειν μοιχεύεις;
βδελυσσόμενος τὰ εἴδωλα ἱεροσυλεῖς;
22  λέγων μὴ μοιχεύειν, μοιχεύεις;
βδελυσσόμενος τὰ εἴδωλα, ἱεροσυλεῖς;
You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost you commit adultery? you that abhorrest idols, dost you commit sacrilege?
2:23 ὃς ἐν νόμῳ καυχᾶσαι, διὰ τῆς παραβάσεως τοῦ νόμου τὸν θεὸν ἀτιμάζεις· 23 ὃς ἐν νόμῳ καυχᾶσαι, διὰ τῆς παραβάσεως τοῦ νόμου τὸν θεὸν ἀτιμάζεις;
You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonour God? You that makest your boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest you God?
For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
For indeed circumcision is of value if you practice the Law; but if you are a transgressor of the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. For circumcision verily profiteth, if you keep the law: but if you be a breaker of the law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision.
2:26 ἐὰν οὖν ἀκροβυστία τὰ δικαιώματα τοῦ νόμου φυλάσσῃ, οὐχ ἀκροβυστία αὐτοῦ εἰς περιτομὴν λογισθήσεται; 26 ἐὰν οὖν ἀκροβυστία τὰ δικαιώματα τοῦ νόμου φυλάσσῃ, οὐχὶ ἀκροβυστία αὐτοῦ εἰς περιτομὴν λογισθήσεται;
So if the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
2:27 καὶ κρινεῖ ἐκ φύσεως ἀκροβυστία τὸν νόμον τελοῦσα σὲ τὸν διὰ γράμματος καὶ περιτομῆς παραβάτην νόμου. 27 καὶ κρινεῖ ἐκ φύσεως ἀκροβυστία, τὸν νόμον τελοῦσα, σὲ τὸν διὰ γράμματος καὶ περιτομῆς, παραβάτην νόμου;
And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a transgressor of the Law? And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge you, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God. But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
