Covenant at Moab
1 These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israēl in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
אֵלֶּה֩ דִבְרֵ֨י הַבְּרִ֜ית אֲֽשֶׁר־צִוָּ֧ה יְהוָ֣ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֗ה לִכְרֹ֛ת אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מֹואָ֑ב מִלְּבַ֣ד הַבְּרִ֔ית אֲשֶׁר־כָּרַ֥ת אִתָּ֖ם בְּחֹרֵֽב׃
| 1 Οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι τῆς διαθήκης, οὓς ἐνετείλατο κύριος Μωυσῇ στῆσαι τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ ἐν γῇ Μωάβ, πλὴν τῆς διαθήκης, ἧς διέθετο αὐτοῖς ἐν Χωρήβ. | 1 Οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι τῆς διαθήκης, οὓς ἐνετείλατο Κύριος Μωυσῇ στῆσαι τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ ἐν γῇ Μωάβ, πλὴν τῆς διαθήκης, ἧς διέθετο αὐτοῖς ἐν Χωρήβ. |

2 And Moses called unto all Israēl, and said unto them, You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaōh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
וַיִּקְרָ֥א מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֑ם אַתֶּ֣ם רְאִיתֶ֗ם אֵ֣ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר֩ עָשָׂ֨ה יְהוָ֤ה לְעֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם לְפַרְעֹ֥ה וּלְכָל־עֲבָדָ֖יו וּלְכָל־אַרְצֹֽו׃

הַמַּסֹּות֙ הַגְּדֹלֹ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר רָא֖וּ עֵינֶ֑יךָ הָאֹתֹ֧ת וְהַמֹּפְתִ֛ים הַגְּדֹלִ֖ים הָהֵֽם׃

4 Yet the LORD hasn’t given you a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
וְלֹֽא־נָתַן֩ יְהוָ֨ה לָכֶ֥ם לֵב֙ לָדַ֔עַת וְעֵינַ֥יִם לִרְאֹ֖ות וְאָזְנַ֣יִם לִשְׁמֹ֑עַ עַ֖ד הַיֹּ֥ום הַזֶּֽה׃

וָאֹולֵ֥ךְ אֶתְכֶ֛ם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר לֹֽא־בָל֤וּ שַׂלְמֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ מֵעֲלֵיכֶ֔ם וְנַֽעַלְךָ֥ לֹֽא־בָלְתָ֖ה מֵעַ֥ל רַגְלֶֽךָ׃

לֶ֚חֶם לֹ֣א אֲכַלְתֶּ֔ם וְיַ֥יִן וְשֵׁכָ֖ר לֹ֣א שְׁתִיתֶ֑ם לְמַ֙עַן֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

7 And when you came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:
וַתָּבֹ֖אוּ אֶל־הַמָּקֹ֣ום הַזֶּ֑ה וַיֵּצֵ֣א סִיחֹ֣ן מֶֽלֶךְ־חֶ֠שְׁבֹּון וְעֹ֨וג מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֧ן לִקְרָאתֵ֛נוּ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה וַנַּכֵּֽם׃
| 7 καὶ ἤλθετε ἕως τοῦ τόπου τούτου, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Σηὼν βασιλεὺς Ἐσεβὼν καὶ Ὢγ βασιλεὺς τῆς Βασὰν εἰς συνάντησιν ἡμῖν ἐν πολέμῳ, καὶ ἐπατάξαμεν αὐτοὺς | 7 καὶ ἤλθετε ἕως τοῦ τόπου τούτου, καὶ ἐξῆλθε Σηὼν βασιλεὺς Ἐσεβὼν καὶ Ὢγ βασιλεὺς Βασὰν εἰς συνάντησιν ἡμῖν ἐν πολέμῳ, καὶ ἐπατάξαμεν αὐτοὺς |

8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.
וַנִּקַּח֙ אֶת־אַרְצָ֔ם וַנִּתְּנָ֣הּ לְנַחֲלָ֔ה לָרֽאוּבֵנִ֖י וְלַגָּדִ֑י וְלַחֲצִ֖י שֵׁ֥בֶט הַֽמְנַשִּֽׁי׃

9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.
וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֗ם אֶת־דִּבְרֵי֙ הַבְּרִ֣ית הַזֹּ֔את וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם אֹתָ֑ם לְמַ֣עַן תַּשְׂכִּ֔ילוּ אֵ֖ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֽׂוּן׃

10 You stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israēl,

| 10 ὑμεῖς ἑστήκατε πάντες σήμερον ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν, οἱ ἀρχίφυλοι ὑμῶν καὶ ἡ γερουσία ὑμῶν καὶ οἱ κριταὶ ὑμῶν καὶ οἱ γραμματοεισαγωγεῖς ὑμῶν πᾶς ἀνὴρ Ἰσραήλ, | 10 Ὑμεῖς ἑστήκατε πάντες σήμερον ἐναντίον Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν, οἱ ἀρχίφυλοι ὑμῶν καὶ ἡ γερουσία ὑμῶν καὶ οἱ κριταὶ ὑμῶν, καὶ οἱ γραμματοεισαγωγεῖς ὑμῶν, πᾶς ἀνὴρ Ἰσραήλ, |

11 Your little ones, your wives, and your stranger that is in your camp, from the hewer of your wood unto the drawer of your water:
טַפְּכֶ֣ם נְשֵׁיכֶ֔ם וְגֵ֣רְךָ֔ אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּקֶ֣רֶב מַחֲנֶ֑יךָ מֵחֹטֵ֣ב עֵצֶ֔יךָ עַ֖ד שֹׁאֵ֥ב מֵימֶֽיךָ׃
| 11 αἱ γυναῖκες ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ ἔκγονα ὑμῶν καὶ ὁ προσήλυτος ὁ ἐν μέσῳ τῆς παρεμβολῆς ὑμῶν ἀπὸ ξυλοκόπου ὑμῶν καὶ ἕως ὑδροφόρου ὑμῶν, | 11 αἱ γυναῖκες ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ ἔκγονα ὑμῶν καὶ ὁ προσήλυτος ὁ ἐν μέσῳ τῆς παρεμβολῆς ὑμῶν, ἀπὸ ξυλοκόπου ὑμῶν καὶ ἕως ὑδροφόρου ὑμῶν, |

12 That you should enter into covenant with the LORD your God, and into his oath, which the LORD your God makes with you this day:
לְעָבְרְךָ֗ בִּבְרִ֛ית יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ וּבְאָלָתֹ֑ו אֲשֶׁר֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ כֹּרֵ֥ת עִמְּךָ֖ הַיֹּֽום׃
| 12 παρελθεῖν ἐν τῇ διαθήκῃ κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἀραῖς αὐτοῦ, ὅσα κύριος ὁ θεός σου διατίθεται πρὸς σὲ σήμερον, | 12 παρελθεῖν ἐν τῇ διαθήκῃ Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἀραῖς αὐτοῦ, ὅσα Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου διατίθεται πρὸς σὲ σήμερον, |

לְמַ֣עַן הָקִֽים־אֹתְךָ֩ הַיֹּ֨ום ׀ לֹ֜ו לְעָ֗ם וְה֤וּא יִֽהְיֶה־לְּךָ֙ לֵֽאלֹהִ֔ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּר־לָ֑ךְ וְכַאֲשֶׁ֤ר נִשְׁבַּע֙ לַאֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃
| 13 ἵνα στήσῃ σὲ αὐτῷ εἰς λαόν, καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται σου θεός, ὃν τρόπον εἶπέν σοι, καὶ ὃν τρόπον ὤμοσεν τοῖς πατράσιν σου Ἁβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακώβ. | 13 ἵνα στήσῃ σε αὐτῷ εἰς λαόν, καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται σου Θεός, ὃν τρόπον εἶπέ σοι, καὶ ὃν τρόπον ὤμοσε τοῖς πατράσι σου, Ἁβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακώβ. |

כִּי֩ אֶת־אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֶשְׁנֹ֜ו פֹּ֗ה עִמָּ֙נוּ֙ עֹמֵ֣ד הַיֹּ֔ום לִפְנֵ֖י יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וְאֵ֨ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵינֶ֛נּוּ פֹּ֖ה עִמָּ֥נוּ הַיֹּֽום׃
| 15 ἀλλὰ καὶ τοῖς ὧδε οὖσι μεθ’ ἡμῶν σήμερον ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ τοῖς μὴ οὖσιν μεθ’ ἡμῶν ὧδε σήμερον. | 15 ἀλλὰ καὶ τοῖς ὧδε οὖσι μεθ’ ὑμῶν σήμερον ἐναντίον Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ τοῖς μὴ οὖσι μεθ’ ὑμῶν ὧδε σήμερον. |

16 (For you know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which you passed by;
כִּֽי־אַתֶּ֣ם יְדַעְתֶּ֔ם אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־יָשַׁ֖בְנוּ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְאֵ֧ת אֲשֶׁר־עָבַ֛רְנוּ בְּקֶ֥רֶב הַגֹּויִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר עֲבַרְתֶּֽם׃
| 16 ὅτι ὑμεῖς οἴδατε ὡς κατῳκήσαμεν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ παρήλθομεν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἐθνῶν, οὓς παρήλθετε, | 16 ὅτι ὑμεῖς οἴδατε πῶς κατῳκήσαμεν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, ὡς παρήλθομεν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἐθνῶν, οὓς παρήλθετε, |

17 And you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)
וַתִּרְאוּ֙ אֶת־שִׁקּ֣וּצֵיהֶ֔ם וְאֵ֖ת גִּלֻּלֵיהֶ֑ם עֵ֣ץ וָאֶ֔בֶן כֶּ֥סֶף וְזָהָ֖ב אֲשֶׁ֥ר עִמָּהֶֽם׃
| 17 καὶ εἴδετε τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα αὐτῶν, ξύλον καὶ λίθον, ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, ἅ ἐστιν παρ’ αὐτοῖς. | 17 καὶ ἴδετε τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα αὐτῶν, ξύλον καὶ λίθον, ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, ἅ ἔστι παρ’ αὐτοῖς. |

18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;
פֶּן־יֵ֣שׁ בָּ֠כֶם אִ֣ישׁ אֹו־אִשָּׁ֞ה אֹ֧ו מִשְׁפָּחָ֣ה אֹו־שֵׁ֗בֶט אֲשֶׁר֩ לְבָבֹ֨ו פֹנֶ֤ה הַיֹּום֙ מֵעִם֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ לָלֶ֣כֶת לַעֲבֹ֔ד אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֖י הַגֹּויִ֣ם הָהֵ֑ם פֶּן־יֵ֣שׁ בָּכֶ֗ם שֹׁ֛רֶשׁ פֹּרֶ֥ה רֹ֖אשׁ וְלַעֲנָֽה׃

19 And it come to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
וְהָיָ֡ה בְּשָׁמְעֹו֩ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֨י הָֽאָלָ֜ה הַזֹּ֗את וְהִתְבָּרֵ֨ךְ בִּלְבָבֹ֤ו לֵאמֹר֙ שָׁלֹ֣ום יִֽהְיֶה־לִּ֔י כִּ֛י בִּשְׁרִר֥וּת לִבִּ֖י אֵלֵ֑ךְ לְמַ֛עַן סְפֹ֥ות הָרָוָ֖ה אֶת־הַצְּמֵאָֽה׃

20 The LORD won’t spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

21 And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israēl, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
וְהִבְדִּילֹ֤ו יְהוָה֙ לְרָעָ֔ה מִכֹּ֖ל שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כְּכֹל֙ אָלֹ֣ות הַבְּרִ֔ית הַכְּתוּבָ֕ה בְּסֵ֥פֶר הַתֹּורָ֖ה הַזֶּֽה׃

22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD has laid upon it;
וְאָמַ֞ר הַדֹּ֣ור הָֽאַחֲרֹ֗ון בְּנֵיכֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָק֙וּמוּ֙ מֵאַ֣חֲרֵיכֶ֔ם וְהַ֨נָּכְרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָבֹ֖א מֵאֶ֣רֶץ רְחֹוקָ֑ה וְ֠רָאוּ אֶת־מַכֹּ֞ות הָאָ֤רֶץ הַהִוא֙ וְאֶת־תַּ֣חֲלֻאֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁר־חִלָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה בָּֽהּ׃

23 And that the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

וַיִּתְּשֵׁ֤ם יְהוָה֙ מֵעַ֣ל אַדְמָתָ֔ם בְּאַ֥ף וּבְחֵמָ֖ה וּבְקֶ֣צֶף גָּדֹ֑ול וַיַּשְׁלִכֵ֛ם אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ אַחֶ֖רֶת כַּיֹּ֥ום הַזֶּֽה׃

| 29 τὰ κρυπτὰ κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν τὰ δὲ φανερὰ ἡμῖν καὶ τοῖς τέκνοις ἡμῶν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ποιεῖν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ νόμου τούτου. | 29 τὰ κρυπτὰ Κυρίῳ τῷ Θεῷ ἡμῶν, τὰ δὲ φανερὰ ἡμῖν καὶ τοῖς τέκνοις ἡμῶν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ποιεῖν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ νόμου τούτου. |
