For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain, For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain. Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonoured. To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us. Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in every respect. Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Christ Jesus, Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
who gave himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
But when the kindness of God our Saviour and his love for mankind appeared, But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
whom he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
so that being justified by his grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Reject a factious man after a first and second warning, A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned. Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
Diligently help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way so that nothing is lacking for them. Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.
Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful. And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amēn.
