Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ who are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father. To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the saints; Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
just as you learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful servant of Christ on our behalf, As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
and he also informed us of your love in the Spirit. Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, don’t cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
For he rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
For by him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through him and for him. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
He is also head of the body, the church; and he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself will come to have first place in everything. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in him, For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
and through him to reconcile all things to himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
yet he has now reconciled you in his fleshly body through death, in order to present you before him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister. If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of his body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions. Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God, Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to his saints, Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
We proclaim him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
For this purpose also I labour, striving according to his power, which mightily works within me. Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ himself, That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
I say this so that no one will delude you with persuasive argument. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
For even though I am absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
having been firmly rooted and now being built up in him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
For in him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
and in him you have been made complete, and he is the head over all rule and authority; And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
and in him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
When he had disarmed the rulers and authorities, he made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through him. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind, Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God. And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
2:20 Εἰ ἀπεθάνετε σὺν Χριστῷ ἀπὸ τῶν στοιχείων τοῦ κόσμου, τί ὡς ζῶντες ἐν κόσμῳ δογματίζεσθε; 20 Εἰ οὖν ἀπεθάνετε σὺν τῷ Χριστῷ ἀπὸ τῶν στοιχείων τοῦ κόσμου, τί ὡς ζῶντες ἐν κόσμῳ δογματίζεσθε;
If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
“Don’t handle, don’t taste, don’t touch!” (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
(which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence. Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Chapter 3

NASTextRec
Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them. In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Don’t lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him— And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all. Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and don’t be embittered against them. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
Fathers, don’t exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you too have a Master in heaven. Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak. That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
As to all my affairs, Tychicus, our beloved brother and faithful servant and fellow servant in the Lord, will bring you information. All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:
For I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts; Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;
and with him Onesimus, our faithful and beloved brother, who is one of your number. They will inform you about the whole situation here. With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.
Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, sends you his greetings; and also Barnabas's cousin Mark (about whom you received instructions; if he comes to you, welcome him); Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
and also Jesus who is called Justus; these are the only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are from the circumcision, and they have proved to be an encouragement to me. And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.
Epaphras, who is one of your number, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always labouring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God. Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
For I testify for him that he has a deep concern for you and for those who are in Laodicea and Hierapolis. For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.
Luke, the beloved physician, sends you his greetings, and also Demas. Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.
Greet the brothers who are in Laodicea and also Nympha and the church that is in her house. Salute the brothers which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.
When this letter is read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and you, for your part read my letter that is coming from Laodicea. And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.
Say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.” And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.
I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my imprisonment. Grace be with you. The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amēn.
